i guarantee kreider will either be traded or signed #insiderrrr

Or? ;)

Lol I wouldn’t be shocked if we went into next season without a new contract or a trade. There are no set deadlines.

Like I 100% get the deadline that Brooks is trying to draw. But if they can’t agree and Gorton can’t find the right deal, does he really pull the trigger anyway?

Not interested in helping Toronto’s cap situation by taking Horton so they can sign Marner.

Nylander has been pretty bad since coming back. Thats not good value from the Rangers side. They could do better for Kreider imo
Taking one year of Horton for two years of Smith. It's a trade off. It opens up defense for people who will be here in the future.

Nylander has been bad? So no camp, no first 2 months of the season. 25 points in 48 games since coming back with no real hockey while the whole league was in stride.

Kreider has 28 points in 46 games since that Nylander return. The benefit of camp, 2 months of hockey. Marginally better. That should be a concern here. Kreider fell off... again. Now he is going to ask for more than what Nylander is contracted for over the next 5 seasons.

Nylander will be Kreider's age when his contract runs out. Kreider is going to ask for terms that brings him to 34 or 35 with move clauses. Kreider has never sniffed Nylander's 61 point career high. He may never reach 60 points.

The question mark for Nylander is if he can carry a line. It's not a question for kreider because he can't. Its answered. Nylander is younger, better, locked up on a good deal.

Calling Nylander bad while at the same time pumping up Kreider is a homer view. Sorry. If we can get the better, younger player under a good contract, and the only add is one bad contract for another, you jump at it. If there is a risk, it's a better risk than re-upping Kreider.

He’s doesn’t need to be a top pairing righty D. Just a second pair guy. We have one already In #77.

Can’t blame a kid like Fox for going this route. This is his chance to have his cake and eat it.

He can get a degree from Harvard, not have to go to Carolina, sign with favorite team, and almost certainly step right in with them.

I mean, three 2nd pairing-style guys on the right is perfectly fine, as long as there is a mix of PP and PK style players and there is a true star playing 1st pairing LD.

I'm not sure that any of Pionk DeAngelo or Fox are PK type players, but Lundkvist sounds like one.

I think we can get Fox for free.

I definitely do Kreider for Nylander, especially if it’s means jettisoning Smith, hell I’d throw in a 2nd

Love the Shatty to LAS for Miller idea, I’d sweeten the pot to make that happen as well.

Of course Fox isn’t signing with Carolina. He was never going too, anyone who thought that he was, was kidding themselves

I’d be on the phone with Carolina’s GM right now and offering them a 4th round pick for him. He’s worth it

Someone on the Canes board is saying Fox is on track to graduate this spring, and he’s going back to play his senior year solely to go UFA

If he wants to play in NY, it’s a no brainer to throw the Hurricanes a mid round pick for this kid. Dollar to donuts he’d sign right away

He's going to graduate from Harvard in three years? Sounds like a real nerd. I don't want him anymore.

Gorton has no reason to trade for Fox. He can just wait until after August 15, 2020 to sign the player. Sounds like Fox wants to finish school and then turn pro.

Smart kid. Get a degree from Harvard and then go play for whoever you want.

Signing Fox would be like found money. He's a pretty safe bet to be a top 4 NHL defenseman.

I know it's tongue in cheek, but unless you're pre law decent grades in first tier ivy's are pretty much guaranteed.

so lets say #16 from colorado and kaut....you think that isnt market value? because i think it is regardless how i feel about kreider

Not happening, how often do teams trade ELCs that are going to play in the NHL?

Especially ones with high upside. Kaut is going to play, his upside is that of a Josh Anderson. Big, rh forwards with the potential to score 20 is the type of player I'd love in return for Kreider.

Not getting that with a 1st.

I like the way you think, but that type of trade doesn't happen. A 1st plus a contract COL doesn't want to pay, like a Nieto... Thats more likely to happen.

They pay a 1st to turn Nieto into Kreider, and it costs them $2M and change in actual dollars.

That's a deal COL would be eager to do if the OTT pick is top 2.

Pushes them up the western ladder in one off season, and they'll have UFA space to play.

There are a lot of moving parts that play into a Kreider deal. First off, where do we end up in the lottery? Second, where is Panarin headed. I expect the Breadman’s rights to be traded before the draft and his preferences and price to be well known. Finally, what kind of contract will it take to keep CK in NY. He could price himself right out of the market. Gorton has a lot to chew on.

If he is going to be traded before the draft, I would expect a team would want to talk to him to see if they can sign him. Having him commit somewhere for the long term will significantly up the return. Kaut and Colorado’s first may not be enough if he is signing there long term. Willingness to sign a contract would bring teams into the conversation that might not be there right now. And that’s all if the Rangers even want to trade him.
