Let me get this straight, we are comparing who we’d rather have between buch and Kane? Anyone saying buch is out of their minds
That's not the question. The question is Kane vs Buch + all the assets it would require to get Kane at a reasonable cap hit.

I wasn't a fan of the Buch trade but we didn't get a full season of Blais to fairly evaluate the trade.
I'm sure they wanted Buch's minutes to go to the young guys but sometimes these young players take longer than expected to develop. Each player has their own timeline obviously. Being picked 1st & 2nd overall lends itself to the impatience.

Another thing: Is it possible CD didn't view Buch as the type you win with?

Philippe Myers on waivers. Wow. Despite us being deep at RD I’d put in a claim in a heartbeat. Big, mobile, young, RHD don’t get put on waivers often. Pretty much never now that I think of it

That Ryan Ellis trade looks ugly. And Cody Glass is still struggling as well

I don't think our 5v5 scoring is the most pressing issue. I'm more concerned with the amount of opportunities we give up. I don't see this team being able to score it's way out of it's other deficiencies.

Would I like us to improve our 5v5 scoring? Of course but trying to solve that with Patrick Kane at the expense of a guy like Kakko or Miller is terrible idea, IMO.
Yeah but we have an equalizer to cover up for any deficiencies defensively, that doesn't exist when it comes to generating offense. Their biggest issue all season has been generating chances and goals. I don't even think it would take Kakko or Miller to land Kane anyway.

If his name was Paul Butcher I'm sure he'd view him differently.

I think that can be addressed by adding more balance to the roster. I don't think stacking our already best line at 5v5 with Patrick Kane makes any sense.

Regardless, this all spawned from the idea that I thought Drury should be clubbed if he dealt Miller or Kakko for Kane. That's still an absolutely horrible idea.

I disagree with your 1st point, especially since Kreider-ZIbanejad-Lafreniere really haven't been all that good together and none of the 3 have really been producing much at 5v5. We could absolutely use an upgrade on that line. Maybe it's not Kane but someone. I agree more with your 2nd point, although I guess it depends what the complete deal would look like. If you can get Kane at 25% and it costs Kakko and then Chicago flips an asset to Arizona or whoever to eat another 50% it might be worth it in my eyes.

That's bullshit. Sorry, but nobody has any Euro bias toward him.

There is 0 reason that you would think you can't win with him other than him being Russian. Unless Drury just thinks that you can't win with skilled guys in general unless they were top 10 guys at their position, then that's even more concerning.

I can’t believe we’re actually talking about Kane. I hate everything and everyone right now.

The guy is a low IQ player who turns the puck over a ton & constantly forces bad passes when he should shoot. He also disappeared quite often down the stretch the past 2 years.

Obviously I'd prefer him on this current team over the return we got for him, but let's not pretend the guy doesn't have warts & it's all some Russian bias.

It's not tedious at best. Let's deal with the reality facing this team. I remember your thoughts about the Rangers rebuild in 2018. You didn't like it. I remember the Rangers played Ottawa on a Saturday afternoon before the 2018 deadline. The Rangers were awful in that game. You posted after the game about how the Rangers should keep trying to win with their current group. Rebuilds never work. You fought with everyone in the thread. There is a salary cap in place. The cap will be flat for at least another two seasons.
Yeah, this one has gone so well, you want to keep it going for another five years. Had we kept some of those players we could’ve augmented them with younger players on the fly, Miller and Zucc would be top players on this team. And if I remember correctly you wanted to dump Krieder too. By the way, I still don’t believe “re-builds” work.

You don't become a point per game plyer by being a low IQ player. He might have warts he's not some all time great, but we were a better offense with him than without him.

I always thought he was a dumb player, you don't have to agree....but that wasn't your argument. You made this about some Euro bias, which is what I called you out for.

Domi isn’t good. Don’t get the obsession. They Rangers made their “toughness” moves in the offseason. They don’t need more overcorrection on that front.

I’m fairly sure that most everyone who has been discussing Domi sees him as a relatively inexpensive addition for the 3rd line. He’s a guy who can play center in a pinch and has had good offensive numbers over a significant amount of time in the NHL.

When properly motivated he plays with a bit of an edge. I wouldn’t call him tenacious on the puck but he’s not someone who shows away from physical contact.

For me personally, he’s intriguing for the simple fact that he would be cheap to acquire and the remainder of the season could be a bit of a ‘trial run’. If he comes in and plays well, perhaps the team could look at retaining for a short period of time (2 years) to bridge the gap as a center here. It would benefit him as well to come in, up his value on a good team and then hit UFA when the cap increases again.

Does it make any sense to get Paul and sign him to an extension ?

Paul , Sanford , for Chytil , Gauthier

Sens have said they are looking at adding players for next year?

Maybe the Sens would take Nemeth
Maybe NYR takes the Tierney Money
