Jones is a LHD that can play the Right Side
Ah my bad, well that's good for Jones then because there's definitely no long term spot for him on the right side.

No, I'm repeating what Edge reported.
Or just keep both and move Nemeth. Jones can play the left side and Nils has excellent puck moving ability too.
Hajek has proven to be a competent 3rd pairing d-man. He has been much more decisive and is using his skating to make plays which is great to see. If he can become even a 3rd pairing d-man that's a nice surprise. This is another example of a player just taking some time to make the jump to the NHL.
In saying all of that, Chytil, to me, is not a NHL center. His game needs to be simplified and he needs to play wing. Goodrow is MUCH better at center and this team needs a 3C. Seems like a natural fit there.
Nope, all Edge reported is that that deal was offered at one point, and didn't say exactly when or say that that was all there was to the deal. Also didn't say if NYR turned it down or LAK pulled it. You are making assumptions and want them accepted as fact. I do not accept them as fact, but sure your speculations are POSSIBLE, as are other people's.
Ok. I mean, maybe that deal was offered two years ago too, but that just doesn't really follow logically, but ok.
Bold stance.Kreider's main value is by far his PP production which I've argued he should keep.
A guy who may look good on this team for this season would be someone like Vinnie Hinostroza. He plays a quick, elusive game. He isn't overly large but he is a waterbug type who I think would fit in well on that 3rd line. He's a UFA at years end playing in Buffalo. 15 points in 31 games this season playing ~14 minutes a night. He plays either wing.
Switching topics, if Edmonton is looking to solve their goalie issues but can't find the cap space, I'm still open to taking on Koskinen along with a mid-round pick to open up cap space for them. Use that mid-round pick in the off-season as currency. The Rangers have A TON of cap space. Say EDM 3rd '23 + EDM 5th '22 + Koskinen for Reunanen. Add Koskinen to the taxi squad.
You can do that in several years. I can't think of a way to better piss off the entire team than to demote a beloved perennial top line guy having his best season ever to the third line.My suggested route is to move Kreider to 3LW, which is absolutely not sacrificing either him or the team's success. I think it's the best all around solution for everyone.
I'm betting the deadline passes without them using all their cap space. Taxi squad may not be an ongoing thing, but there is always going to be a place to store a 3rd goalie. After the deadline there are no roster limits, so that makes it easier too.The Rangers are currently T-1 in the league. They are going to use the cap space to improve the team. Not to add a 3rd string goalie to sit on the taxi squad that, as of now, doesn't even exist after the All Star Break.

IMO the question is do we use the assets we have to go for a cup or two.
Or are we looking for 'fair value' and a 'slow burn'....
If last offseason is any indication, we're going to be over paying for missing pieces. Over pay for the retention of good players.
I know it's hard to fathom but we're as good as any team currently in contention. Even more so if/when we solidify our weaknesses.
Interesting though.

Kreider will play with Chytil at some point because in a hockey season lines go in the blender due to ebbs to flows and injuries. There's no reason to move him *now* when Zibs is finally taking off and Kreider is still crushing.
All without Andie MacDowell, no less. This place is like groundhog’s day with the same exact conversations happening on a loop. Sheesh.
This team has a long window and shouldn't sacrifice it all to win now. The increased odds of winning in a given year are not improved enough. Look no further than teams like the Islanders the past few deadlines. If you could guarantee me a Cup by trading Lundkvist, fine, but that's not what you are doing. You are still rolling your dice and this team is still a longshot to win as is any team that is not like last year's Lightning team. The bottom line is that "going for it," isn't as safe a bet as long term competition.
Add in the fact that this is basically the first year of contention and there's just no reason to get antsy.
If anything all the win-now moves we already made that aren't really the drivers behind our success should tell us to double down on the kids like Shesterkin and Fox.
Yeah. I'm definitely in this school of thought. I don't think one or two short term pieces get the Cup this year or next. But I'm 100% for "overpaying" for a piece that puts us thatclose long term.
