It's not about Kane. It's about basing a decision to bring in a player on whether or not Ryan Reaves likes him. If he's incapable of letting things in the past stay in the past and moving on then maybe he isn't as good of a locker room guy as we thought. He's the worst regular forward on the team and will be gone after next season. He should have zero input in any move - whether it's Kane, Giroux, Smith, or anyone. If you want to placate Panarin who is the best/highest paid forward on the team that's one thing. If a bottom of the lineup player is going to complain about the organization bringing in someone he doesn't like then goodbye to him.
