Speculation: Roster Building Thread - Part XXX

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The players they'd be adding are better than Tinordi, Hajek, Barron, Jones?

Or are they bringing in players who would bump Hunt, Goodrow, Reeves, Rooney, Gauthier, Lundkvist, Nemeth, either down or out of the playing roster?

I don’t think the intention is to replace anyone in the current lineup. Just want to have spares waiting in the wings who are better than McKegg and Hajek. That’s my thinking, at least :).
 
I think its clear that they need to add a winger. Hopefully some sort of UFA. They have the cap space for one this season. I cant keep watching Gauthier go large stretches of games and contributing nothing.
 
I love how prisoner of the moment Larry is. His latest says that Kreider isn’t a streaky player based on his consistent play this year

Kreider, who’s been a streaky player for the Rangers for a decade, is no longer a streaky player after this 20 game stretch

I’d like to live on whatever fantasy land Larry is in

Are we watching the same player? He may not be putting up points regularly but I'd say he has been very effective on the boards and creating havoc in the offensive zone.

Can't believe Edmonton has two left handed shots on the walls. Should really consider replacing McDavid or Draisaitl with Yamamoto. How is Yamamoto going to develop if he's not spoonfed minutes he hasn't earned?

He's improved, but outside of upgrading at 2c(which likely wont happen), the biggest thing the team can do is upgrade at wing. Id rather we have some competition for that last wing spot. I think he's been good, but I wouldnt say hes creating havoc on a regular basis. He still needs to start scoring more. Again, I just think its a spot where some competition/depth wont hurt. We only have McKegg.
 
Vince had his podcast drop this morning. Sounds like the Rangers want to get Strome in the $5-5.5M range on a deal. Strome also really wants to stay.

4 years, 22 million. You get a 2C for the next 2-3 years and can explore the market after that. Cap going up would change a lot of that, hopefully the rest of what the players owe is paid up quicker than expected and a contract like this wouldn't hurt the team.

I’m really not surprised it came from you. All you do is cry about everything. Team could win all 82 and you would find something to cry about.

The downside is that if Strome takes a discount to stay in NY it's almost certainly going to come with no-move restrictions.

Lots of hockey coming up before the break(s).

12/10 @ Sabres - Expecting a solid game from them after the admitted stinker against Buffalo, losers of their last 4. My money is on a W.

Off Day

12/12 Preds - Preds are on a little roll lately, however this game being their 3rd in 4 nights. They'll need to jump out to a lead early. IF Igor is back I'd say a W.

Off Day

12/14 @ Avs - Payback game? I am going to say they will have trouble against this team again, regardless of whos in the pipes - L

12/15 @ Yotes - Should be an easy win but the Yotes will be a rested team at home. However, this team is a -49 and only has 5 ROWs. - W

Off Day

12/17 Vegas - 3rd in 4 nights, but at least they get the travel day. This will be VGK 3rd in 4 nights as well, all on road out east. They've been playing well. - OT/SOL

4 Off Days

12/22 Habs - Good to finally get some rest in. Will probably take them a period to get into it but they should clean this team up. - W

Holiday Break (4 Days)

So on Christmas day we are probably looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 21-6-4 or 20-7-4.

How many days into that 4yr contract before Strome reverts to his shiftless, coasting distracted former self?

I'd put my money on them hammering the Avs in the rematch and losing something goofy along the way. Either tonight or at Arizona.
