Speculation: Roster Building Thread - Part XXX

Strome isn't that player anymore. Sometimes it does take time before a player gets it. He's lucky he was a top 5 pick in his draft. Players without that pedigree would be exiled to Europe.

A 4 year commitment wouldn't be the worst thing. Even if in a few years time it needs to be moved, it would be a deal that you could do that with.

If the Rangers signed Strome to a 6 year contract at a cap hit between $5-5.5MM that is not a bad contract. In 3 years once escrow us paid off that cap is going to jump big time. That's also just a $500k-1MM raise and it would take him to age 35.

No it isn’t. He takes lazy penalties and he is a lazy irresponsible player defensively. It’s a pretty accurate narrative.

Strome could lead the league in points (Lol) and still be a shitty defensive player. The two are not mutually exclusive.
 


So, two offseasons before the cap will be going up, this offseason and the next. Of course, the Rangers have some bigger deals potentially before then.

I think this group could ideally stay together with Kakko, Miller, Laf, and Chytil taking 1-2 year deals on their next contracts. Once the cap goes up, which it will by a lot, we can pay these guys and still keep what we already have.

Yeah, and does anyone remember, is there some kind of ‘grand fathering’ model to phase out the repayment aspect? Otherwise it could indeed go up by a lot from one year to the other.

I'm expecting them to spread it out and I think the players would be all for that too. The contracts given out that offseason would be immense. If it is spread out, then they can guarantee raises to the cap every offseason and give the future free agent classes room for bigger deals.

12/12 Preds - Preds are on a little roll lately, however this game being their 3rd in 4 nights. They'll need to jump out to a lead early. IF Igor is back I'd say a W.

12/14 @ Avs - Payback game? I am going to say they will have trouble against this team again, regardless of whos in the pipes - L
12/15 @ Yotes - Should be an easy win but the Yotes will be a rested team at home. However, this team is a -49 and only has 5 ROWs. - W

12/17 Vegas - 3rd in 4 nights, but at least they get the travel day. This will be VGK 3rd in 4 nights as well, all on road out east. They've been playing well. - OT/SOL

12/22 Habs - Good to finally get some rest in. Will probably take them a period to get into it but they should clean this team up. - W
Holiday Break (4 Days)
So on Christmas day we are probably looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 21-6-4 or 20-7-4.

but Sens play Dec 18,19,21

I am in the group reluctant to overpay for an almost 30 rental, with history of 3 serious knee injuries,
and who would likely seek at least $6+ on his next
Some other team will likely offer much more than Drury should ...

Oh yeah they got the Isles to make up too... Forgot about that, eesh

Dont think theyll be able to squeeze in either of those makeup games given the other teams skeds
