Does Kreider make Pavelski a bit redundant? They’re both known for their net front presence and Pavelski would only be seeing 20 sec on PP2 lol
Crosby would be crazy, do you really see Pittsburgh trading him though? Imagine Laf on a line with Crosby

While he is very good in front of the net, he has also played the point on the power play before and I have no doubt he could play on the wall just as effectively if needed there.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Tinordi back in there tomorrow night.

Nils had a rough one last night.

I don't want to see Tinordi or Nils.

They need to solution that 3rd pair. Nils is not it and desperately needs to try to figure himself out at the AHL level. Tinordi is not it and just flat out sucks.

I HATE the Nemeth-Trouba pairing that is forced upon us because Nils gets used like a 7th defenseman anytime we're in the last 10 minutes of a period. They've been good during the PK, but it just doesn't work at 5v5.

I'll again bring up the idea of flipping Nemeth and Lindgren.

The Nemeth-Nils pairing is broken and until last night, Lindgren hasn't been great.

I wouldn't say it's broken, but they haven't played great (which is why I'd rather bring up Zac Jones and send Lundkvist down to Hartford for a bit). Lindgren's been fine. He's been his usual steady Sauer/Klein self.

Again, we're winning and not giving up a ton of goals, so I don't think we should rock the boat.

Lindgren has been horrible other than last night where he was a straight up G.

I think that is far more because of our animal goalie than it is the defensive prowess in front of him.

And now I'm thinking about Mike Sauer, depressing.

Agree with this 100%, and the second to last place he'd ever be traded is here, but I'm interested to see if these new owners are as attached to Crosby as Mario was.
They won’t be. Mario had Crosby living with him during his rookie year. It seems like a real close relationship.

I think Paveleski would be a great addition for the short term (this season and another 2 years after that). It would help bridge things at the 2C while not killing the salary cap when things are tight for the next 2 seasons. By the time he is in his last year of his contract he'll likely be playing 3C.

His cap hit from his last contract was $7MM and he was paid $8MM in real money this season.

I could see him signing 2 years $4-$4.5MM. He will be turning 38 before next season.

NHL Power Rankings: 1-32 poll, plus what each team is 'most likely' to do

13. New York Rangers

Previous ranking: 10
Points percentage: 0.719
Upcoming schedule: @ TOR (Nov. 18), vs. BUF (Nov. 21)
Most likely to trade for a defenseman. And no, it's not because Connor McDavid recently carved through the team like a hot knife through butter. At least not entirely. The Rangers have relied on Igor Shesterkin to win too many games, while their defense corps could use a boost in general. They don't have a single blueliner above 50 in Corsi for percentage or in expected goals for percentage, and they've been giving up too many high-danger looks. Shesterkin can only stop the bleeding for so long.

How is that possible?

We didn't shoot the puck for 13 games. All advanced stats are based off of shots. We were averaging 21 shots a game i think? Obvious night and day difference over the past few games

You could be in front of an empty net and shoot wide/or fumble the puck and it doesn't count. ( case in point, Chytil last game where he hit the post. That doesn't count towards anything )

Corsi/xG is based on shot attempts not shots on goal, so it would absolutely count towards that.

When the team is being outplayed OR outshot (Not always synonymous) it makes everyone's metrics look bad.

The players know we've been struggling a bit to start the season, you can see it in the interviews Nevertheless, we've been stealing hockey games and they finally seem to be getting their legs under them here.
