They’ve been vastly outplayed at 5v5 for the majority of the season, but what’s promising is that they’ve been much better these last few games. Another caveat is that lot of those numbers are heavily by score effects, and if you look at their results when the score is tied, they’re much closer to league average in shot attempts and are ranked 10th in xGF%

about 48% CF but 57% xGF%. they definitely sat back after the first period but it was a pretty even game. the bottom pair is a serious problem right now.

They went from 10th to 13th during the last week after they outplayed, outchanced, and outshot their last 3 opponents. Not that I really care what ESPN says but it doesn't make any sense.

He has to go after him at the start of the game and not the end, he should have had enough motivation after him putting him out

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with hitting a player w the point of contact at the shoulder or chest, if their head is down.
Shoulder to head contact is illegal.
While Reaves statement is ambiguous, it’s likely he’s talking about a clean hit.

And we have had the lead a lot on away ice and backed down too much. Think we are 17th overall in Corsi tied and 30th overal in Corsi with a lead. It kind of became a habit of the team too.

My point is just, nobody can come and say that we have been pretty over 60 minutes during all games so far, we have had some long ugly looks and it’s not up for debate.

But many teams aren’t that pretty, we look like the worst of the worst looking at some stats and I don’t think that is quite true either.

Dont care about the fancy stats but they will need a D-man at the deadline. Lundkvist doesnt look ready and injuries happen. I think Jones deserves a shot in the coming weeks as well.

The Jets got done even more dirty than us. They dropped 8 spots, as a team that is first in their division.

We didn't shoot the puck for 13 games. All advanced stats are based off of shots. We were averaging 21 shots a game i think? Obvious night and day difference over the past few games

You could be in front of an empty net and shoot wide/or fumble the puck and it doesn't count. ( case in point, Chytil last game where he hit the post. That doesn't count towards anything )

For it to work next year, you would need to have Blais and Gauthier accept there qualifying offers, Kakko bridged at 2.5m, Chytil traded for a elc 3c, and Nemeth traded for the value of his whole contract with nothing coming back that cant be buried. Along with a cheap <1m back up goalie.

Horvat at 5.5 would only eliminate the Chytil trade from the above problem.

We are oozing with cheap top 4 D talent. Trouba is getting paid $8m to be a second pair defender.
