I like but what are we trading for Smith and are we doing anything with Nils/Krav?

I thought we would get a break from all the dumb get rid of Kreider posts at least for a few weeks. But hey he could be better. I mean he only has 12 goals in 16 games. That is less than a goal a game. Shame on him. There is also an intangible with him that some are blind to. The guy whether you want to believe it or not is a team leader and important aspect to the chemistry in the locker room.

Good question. No clue. At this point I don't know how much rentals will cost with the cap situation as it is. If Eichel is back in February, a deal has to be made.

I doubt they do it, but Kravtsov, Lundkvist and another decent piece for Brisson and Smith.

Given Vegas’s cap situation, I think many here are expecting a good deal on Smith. Nils and Kravtsov should be packaged in a solution for a 2c for the future.

If he can be a big physical responsible 2C with Panarin and put up points, kill penalties, play physical etc
The rangers would be in the drivers seat. Maybe he maxes out as more then a 3C?

I think they deal trouba when Schneider can take over his minutes. It will probably come right around the time his NMC changes to a MNTC.
I doubt they’ll have any trouble finding a taker for him at 30 years old signed for 2 seasons, especially if he continues to play the way he has this season. He’s been a stud back there for us.
Plus he has really helped miller develop his game.

I think he maxes out as a 3C and I'm glad he is getting big minutes in Hartford and playing well. Keep him there right now.

DeBrincat and Gourde just had a great scrap. 2 skilled players fighting. Love it. Both would improve depth on the wings. DeBrincat should be the next Hawks captain in my opinion. Underrated player. I’d love him on the Rangers.

Alright, so I was planing on being rather patient with the team. Also I haven't been able to watch the full games, what I see is this so far:

- Panarin started slow, uninspired and somewhat selfish. He's turning it up big time. His backcheck is ferocious, when he feels it.

- Trouba ... omg he looks like a bad mf when he's on, and he's been on. Saw couple of beautifully nasty hits these past games. Keep it up!

- Strome is gonna stay with the team the whole season (unfortunately). But as long as the line plays like the past couple of games ... I guess I'll be fine with it.
We shouldn't be able to afford him next season and I want an asset for him, not lose him for free. It'll be what it'll be.

- Player big P found his P. Keep feasting Kaapo! Just keep feasting!

I believe I’d rather have Pettersson.

I think that’s the consensus, frankly I didn’t think he’d be scoring this much. I’d rather try to find a solution for our 2C problem in house First by giving Chytil/Barron a shot, as opposed to swinging a big trade.
If Barron continues his solid offensive output, I don’t know, perhaps he could fill the role.
Timing is another thing that isn’t exactly on our side. A lot of kids are going to be ready or near ready soon.
Hopefully Gallant isn’t gun shy about running an all rookie 3rd pair next season, because Jones-Schneider could def be a pleasant surprise as well.
I know timing is another factor, we’re not going to have spots for everyone, so traded will be made... tough calls.
I think it’s important for Schneider especially to break in 3rd pair while Trouba is still here playing good Top 4 D. At least for 1 season, maybe a season and a half or so. That’s the role he’s ultimately going to take over.

Style wise, maybe a little. I think Barron is faster and has a way better shot then Boyle did.
From where he was drafted in the 6th Rd to do what he’s doing in Hartford is already a win for us, no matter where he ends up. He’s made some huge strides in his development.
This team is going to be in good shape when kakko and LaF settle in and the rangers are able to plug in cheap ELC talent like Berard/Othmann/Cuylle many others.
It’s really important they keep drafting well and don’t have too many swings and misses in the 1st round

We are oozing with cheap top 4 D talent. Trouba is getting paid $8m to be a second pair defender.

Do the math, he's not seeing the end of his contract here.

Trouba is a good player and makes this team better every game he plays. But he also carries that cap hit and term, and that has an opportunity cost. Both things are true.

Kreider always has hot weeks that make us think he's reached a new gear. But he's 30 now. How likely is it that this isnt just one of his hot weeks and he will revert to his dormant slumber for the rest of the season? Kreider should get paid on commission.

Maybe. He could dig in his heels and refuse.

But if the team tells him he's getting bypassed on the depth chart and they want to move him to a better situation for him, obviously he has final say and can control where he goes, but I have a hard time thinking that if it's not like, a cap dump to Arizona, that he would object too strongly. The money is the same and he can play higher in the lineup for a different playoff team who needs him? I'd have to think he can be talked into that.
