Vince does a good job articulating Drury’s unforced error here

We’re all thinking this :/ I think there’s more to it than that. They probably honestly thought he should play in the AHL a bit before being called up.

The mistake looks even worse when you pair this with the Post article saying they had issues at exit meetings

Like I understand trying to make a point that childish behavior won’t be tolerated, but how many high draft picks is the team going to risk to make that point?

There were better ways to go about this and both sides choose the worst possible outcome

This conference has two powerhouses on the downside of the slope.

If the Rangers don't make the playoffs, Gallant will have failed miserably.

Quinn, thought of as incompetent by most here, didn't miss by much and this season features an improved Kakko and Laf , a healthy Zib, and Panarin without Putin, not to mention all the new toughness.

Miserably is a bit strong considering this is a very tough group of teams in this conference but definitely would be a disappointment.

That's making the assumption that protecting Hajek was a large or primary role in sending down Kravtsov, not just a coincidental side effect.
Very good point. they couldn't have been that stupid. I mean they couldn't be right? lol

Oddsmakers in Vegas like the sucker people in with dumb bets. They don’t play the games they just like to take people’s money.

There is no other way of saying this.

You have not a clue how bookmakers create betting lines.

Their goal is 100% always about trying to get equal amounts of money coming in on both sides of a bet, assuming there are two sides.

In the scenario you're talking about, they are not looking to sucker anyone. They are trying to create numbers where the big, sharp gamblers don't all end up on the same position, which is too big a risk for them to take.

And if truly big money comes in on anything, they are forced to move numbers, which they hate doing, because it creates their worst scenario, where they can get middled.

The lines are ALWAYS their honest appraisal of what they feel will prevent too much heavy action on any one position.

Sucker bets are exotic wagers where the payoff odds are way below what they should be, for example, parlays.

If all these upgrades in personnel and presumed health, and a "far better" coach, can't add 10 points, this season is a total failure.

If that's not the view at the top, there was zero reason to fire everyone.

I don't see a need, as the lineup currently stands, on the NHL roster. What would make more sense is for the team to key in on futures or a specific other young player who they like along with a pick from a team who has space on the roster.

No argument here regarding making the playoffs this season. I am expecting them to make it but the conference is pretty loaded still and albeit the decline is coming for wash and the pens not sure if it will happen this season (or at least a hard decline).

yeahhhhh. this hasn't been thought out. Hajek has nothing to do with Kravtsov.

He wasn't getting ice time. He was going to be scratched. What's better? Have him play top minutes in Hartford? or sit in the pressbox and practice with the extras? He was beat out by Gauthier and Blais. Hunt is a much better fit on the 4th line. There's no space for him. He didn't leave an impression on the coaching staff.... Maybe he's the issue. Making moves in fear with how your 21 year old primmadonna RW will act, is foolish imo.

Waiving Hajek doesn't change the scenario. Kravtsov would have demanded a trade after a few games of being scratched. He could have handled it like Chytil, went down and tore it up and get call up once the opportunity presented itself. Or like Gauthier who rode the pressbox with Quinn and most likely be in rotation with Gallant. EARN YOUR SPOT

Blais and Gauthier should be fine on the 3rd. Cuylle and Barron can come up next year. Othmann after. VKs skillset is top 6 winger and would need to be on the PP to score but he's behind everyone else. Maybe in the long run it was better to move him anyway.

What a turn of events especially considering that "character" was a big part of JG's MO.

That said..f*** this spoiled little brat.
He doesn't have what it takes to be a true blue NYR

The asset management of this rebuild has been a joke.

Lias Andersson was a waste and is no longer here. Kravstov is about to follow the same path. 2 top 10 picks completely wasted. Our most valuable asset in McDonagh was traded for Howden and Hajek. Two more missed assets. Really need to hope lindkvist becomes a top pairing defenseman. DeAngelo is gone from the Stepan trade. Buchnevich was traded fro nothing. We got nothing to show for Zuccarello trade.

The Brassard trade was obviously a home run as well as the Nash trade. The Fox trade was the best one yet. But we are getting to the point where they missed on more than they hit during this rebuild. I don’t even want to think about how bad it will be if Laf, Kakko, Miller, And Chytil don’t take a major step.
