Where is he going to play if he did that? the rangers blocked his spots with goodrow and blais.
Additionally this appears to f Chytil as well, because blais and goodrow aren’t exactly gonna let Chytil produce 2c numbers.
Goodrow and Kratsov might’ve.

He needs to play well enough to force the decision. He didn't, and was demoted.

10 games from now Gauthier and Hajek will likely be gone and there will be roster spots. Kravtsov won't get one now.

Incredibly short sighted.

I get it that people are pissed at Krav for being immature...but it's on Drury and management to make sure shit like this doesn't happen. It's not that he didn't want to play here. Maybe some additional or better communication could have smoothed things over? Maybe the Rangers sacrificing Gauts or Hajek could have avoided this? I find it hard to imagine anyone watched him play this preseason and thought "wow that kid isn't an NHL player". He should be here, and he knows it, and he feels wronged. Again, bad response by Krav? Yes. But also bad management? Indeed. This is strike 2 for Drury in my books.

I have no doubt he feels like he belongs. But he also can’t cut his coaches knees out. If Gallant felt that he’s not right for his top 9, and development wise, it was a better option to go down and get minutes instead of sit in the press box, that’s what needed to be done.
I had no doubt a trade request was coming, I just thought kravtsov/agent would have waited a bit longer.
The problem is also, we’re not at practice or in the room etc. we don’t get to see that entire part of it. Also, this is a kid who already took his ball and when home when things didn’t go his way once already. Then he lowered his stock even more by falling flat on his face in Russia. That was an impact on his development as well. I’m sure some teams will have interest, but his value is not very good at all. Drury dealing with a handicap on any kravtsov deal

Like @BBKers said, theres gotta be more here.

He didn't take part in the prospects camp. Was that b/c the org said he didn't need to and had "graduated" from it?...Or did he not want to?

He didn't go on that bonding trip. Maybe nothing, maybe something.

Where are his reps in this? Just take the demotion and say "Im pissed. I don't deserve this, but I'll go down and play my bag off. If I'm not back up here by Thanksgiving time, I'll revisit my options and ask to be moved".

Krav screwed up here. The kid played OK in camp...but the lineup is better with Blais and Hunt and Reeves in it. When you have a team that can win, management's job is to ice the best lineup...not placate apparently spoiled rookies. Icing the best lineup creates a winning culture and keeps the room happy.

You think anyone in the Rangers locker room is saying, damn Krav should really be playing over Hunt or Reaves? Kakko, Laf? Kreider, Strome? They're not. But if Hunt was not dressing and Blais was on the fourth line just to make room for this kid...the room would take notice.

Krav needed to wait for a top six injury or failure, be ready for his shot, and force the Rangers to keep him there WITH HIS PLAY once he got that shot. Like almost every other top NHL player has done. This whiney bullshit he's pulling instead has at the very least delayed that shot...and probably destroyed it with the Rangers. It's all on him.

LOL the asset fetishists are gonna be Ina tizzy for weeks.

Welcome to the downside of the player empowerment generation. Lias was easy because he played like total garbage. Krav doesnt really want to be a Ranger, he wants to play in the NHL. Good for him, tbh.

this is the bad part when you have so many young guys all ready at once with not enough spots.
We’re seeing a preview of what’s going to happen on the blue line next year if a trade isn’t made. Maybe even two.
These guys want to play. That’s why I’m a huge supporter of trying to get Barron on the rangers. He’s the 3C of the future for our runs ( hopefully) I don’t want that going sideways like kravtsov and him asking for a trade as well. He’s going to be too important of an asset for us to lose.
I don’t see how anyone can look at this situation and think that Jones/Lundkvist/Schneider/Robertson are going to be ok waiting 3 years in Hartford until the rangers can maybe unload trouba. It’s not logical or realistic.
The only silver lining is, we’re not really going to miss what kravtsov bring because of how deep we are on the wings in the nhl and on the farm.

I would like to pry Turcotte or Kupari from LA, assuming they want Kravtsov. I think the Rangers need to turn this into a legit C prospect. This is a chance to turn a disaster into a good thing if done right. However, they now have no leverage.

Assuming this was bubbling for a while, the Rangers rumored interest in Tarasenko to play RW now makes sense

We all know the Kreider to RW experiment will last a game or two before he gets yanked out of that spot

Not true. There isn't a gun to Drurys head here.

It was the players decision to leave, not the Orgs. Worst case he can go home to Russia and play. The Oilers waited out Pool Party (which ended up resolving itself). Drury can do the same here.

Their chance to do that was before he requested a trade and the head coach all but said he wasn't good enough to make the team. The return on this guy isn't going to be great.

Agreed with you, patience is the best approach here. We won't get fair value for Krav if we were to trade him now.

Hopefully they get the best outcome. I would love it if they snagged one of LAs young Cs.

There are a number of guys from that draft class who are struggling and could do with a change of scenery. Hayton, Kupari, and Kaut come to mind. The problem is that if you bring in Hayton or Kupari to play center, there's no room for them on this roster and they're going to Hartford. Not sure if that's enough of a change of scenery for those guys to take steps forward.

Also, this is an example of GOOD asset management. Drury doesn't want to lose an asset for nothing on waivers, so he sends down assets that do not have to go through waivers.

Agreed. I didn't want to lose the rusting 1997 Ford Explorer in my driveway, or my cinderblock collection, so I sold off my Porsche 911 for 30 cents on the dollar. Very smart.

No nuance. Never change HF.

Maybe. Not all of Kupari, Turcotte and Villardi are going to be up with LA. Ultimately, I don't even know if LA has a need for a winger.

Hey @Edge with this Kravy crap coming up, does this now reopen the door to the Larkin trade? They wanted kravy or Nils and a 1st. Can we still swing that deal? Then move out Strome for a 1st to recoup the one we gave up for Larkin?

larkin is 95% done deal. There no way Detroit lets him go now. Their farm is stacked, they are turning the corner in next 2-3 seasons for to a team that realistically can have a playoff shot.
I have no doubt NYR talked with Det and had interest like Edge said. You can tell from his past that he doesn’t go around telling sea stories.
At this juncture, it makes absolutely no sense for the wings to deal him. I’m sure Yzerman is going to give him a healthy extension as well as add some good timely UFAs to bolster their roster even further. The wings have a ton of cap. They could realistically add Eichel and resign Larkin if they want to.
My guess is the only time your going to hear anymore Larkin rumors, to NYR or anybody frankly, is if he comes out and asks to be moved.
Being a Hometown hero, and just being named captain to a team that has turned the ship doesn’t really give him any incentive to do that. He’s not the type. I also believe he had tremendous Faith in what Stevie Y is doing. They aren’t the Sabres, they are ahead of that curve.
It really blows hard because Larkin and Lindholm would be ideal targets for the rangers and we actually have the assets to get them, but neither team at this point is going to make them available. With strome still here, we’re likely going to need another season to evaluate what chytil can do.

Freidman on VK today on Mareks show says there is "a lot of interest" in VK, but that doesn't mean a deal will happen.
