In the end, it matters f*** all whether it was Panarin or his GF that made the choice, the fact is he didn't sign with us.

We are not a top destination. We are a destination because of MacKinnon and Makar, but not really for much else. That is the truth. We are kinda seen as being a cheap organization around the league. We will spend to the cap, yes. The facilities and other stuff? Not so much. Denver is not Florida, Vegas or New York. Taxes are not as low as they are in Dallas.
Really, I'm actually okay that the Avs are not a top FA destination. It's forced them to augment the roster through trade, and they usually avoid bidding wars which is wise. Now...you'd think a team like that who knows they don't have the advantage of just buying top-tier talent would do more to draft and develop that talent...but alas they don't. And their facilities are definitely not top-notch. BUT...the Rangers and Leafs draw a lot of talent with their respective reps and big $$$ but IMO it's done very little to change the fortunes of those two franchises in the 30+ years that either club has gone without a Cup win.

Just tuned in for the Noah Cates talk, I would be happy with that.
I do like Cates quite a bit. More of a 3C, but I like his game.

I'd go get Boeser. He might actually pair well with Mittelstadt. A shoot first winger to pair with a pass first(and 2nd, and 3rd) Center.

I don't mind Boeser, but I doubt he'd fix Mittelstadt.

Mitts has played with every winger not named Necas at this point. Rantanen was one of his most common linemates this year (175:10) and he assisted on zero of Mikko's ES goals (17).

Where he goes off the rails is capping off the Jones talk with "They'd need to eat half or close to half to make it work."

LeBrun just threw out 6.5M for Dallas, but you want him at 4.75 lol. K..
Yeah, that didn't make sense to me. We've proven they can make it work getitng him at 7. Seemed to me they were stearing the conversation toward "their guy."

Ya I agree, the linemates aren't an issue, it's the system and the style he plays. He's shown he can play with pace and can play in the Avs system, but it's looking like it's not sustainable for him to do over the course of a season.

I dunno, maybe not but it would certainly improve the depth.

But I'm also not someone totally convinced we need to fix Mittelstadt. I think his poor play has been greatly overstated and I also think he'll pick up the intensity once the playoffs role around.

Drouin - Mack - Necas
Nuke - Mitts - Boeser
Lehky - Drury - Landy*

That's a hell of a Top 9 for the playoffs IMO.

Mitts looked great with Nuke last game as well. I'd keep those two together and then you give them a pure finisher... It kind of re-creates that Nuke - JTC - Burakovsky line from the finals against Tampa Bay.

This is the same guy who said Rantanen was the only 50 goal scoring winger in franchise history(Hejduk) and has repeatedly forgotten we don’t have our 2025 1st round pick.

Montano is terrible.

Sadly DNVR is even worse. They were talking about the Avs being sellers 2 days ago

Bring him home. Add Donato and call it a day Cmac. You would've 100% earned it.

As much of a drunk as he is, at least they have Eric Lacroix who actually played the game and spent time in management. He’s the only guy out of those two outlets with a clue.

Of course, he’s flanked by the human dumpster known as Rudolph and Supersize AJ so it’s hard to take him serious.

Chicago’s ownership is notoriously cheap and resents every dime they have to pay.

The retention here is the key. Chicago would possibly give away assets if anyone would take Jones’ full contract just so they don’t have to pay him. That’s not going to happen given Jones’ NTC though (at least not until offseason).

So the ultimate questions are: (1) does Chicago think it’s possible they could get somebody to take the full contract in the offseason; and (2) if CHI’s actually willing to retain some $$, what’s the amount we have to be at to offset the assets dallas is offering?
I didn't think Danny was anywhere close to his old man, Dollar Bill.

They'd have to take some salary back or we'd have to make some preemptive moves (trades and/or LTIR some players) but if they're serious about giving up assets to takes Jones' full cap... I think we could make it work with Bedard as the plus. :sarcasm:
