I personally see risk in both players Eichel and Zib. Love Mika but he is another concussion away from being a problem imo. Id like nothing better than to win with him in the lineup but I'll take the younger player at similar money on a shorter deal, depending on cost ofcourse.

i would love to forge ahead with Mika too. Just not at 7-8 years big money.
This Eichel situation unfolding the way it has is actually a stroke of good luck for us. Ordinarily, we’d never be able to get a guy like him at need be for the price and age.

the amount of talented centers that are 26 years old and younger that are in Eichel’s talent tier, or even a bit below, is nonexistent. They just aren’t out there availability wise.

say, we get incredibly lucky, and some team moves a young C with potential for a move that is purely financial. The player would most likely need 2-3 years development to be a top 6 C anyway.
Finding a center as good as Eichel and Zibby are right now is hard as hell. Usually they are on a big time retirement deal as a UFA like we’d have to give Zibby or you have to draft them.
To get a center as good as Eichel at his age is like seeing Bigfoot. His contract being only 5 years is also a plus imo

Mika isn’t a concussion away from being a problem he is a concussion away from relaxing on a beach with that LTIF insurance money which is the opposite of a problem for everyone except Mikas long term brain health. Unfortunately. Let’s hope he doesn’t get any cheap shots.

So despite the evidence that every other player in a similar position did not keep up the production the next year Chytil is somehow different?
I haven’t done the one to one analysis for all of those players, but somehow I don’t think that many of them were 20 year old first round talents in the rise in the dataset you’re referencing.

Andrei Burakovsky was a 24 year old former 23 overall pick.
Robert Thomas was a 20 year old former 20 overall pick (taken the pick directly before Chytil)
Travis Konecny was a 22 year old former 24 overall pick
Dylan Strome was a 22 year old former 3rd overall pick

You're setting yourself for disappointment and buying in way too much to a small sample data with an inflated shooting percentage.

When did Gauthier score 26 point in a season?
When was Gauthier given 20 plus games of top 9 minutes without being dropped to 4th line or scratched????
Let alone 65 GP like Nylander.
Gauthier is a better all around player.

Alex Nylander ‘s last name and where he was drafted is the only enticing thing. Otherwise, no one would pay any attention to him

Hmmm.

Why would one game change anything?
What is your opinion of Chytil? What do you think he is, will be, and why?

I see a kid who has done nothing but improve despite being utilized mostly in non ideal situations.

I see a kid with a tantalizing skillset that looks very ready to break out.

I see statistics that seem to suggest what I am seeing is true despite the raw numbers.

Sure, not everyone pans out. Chytil really looks like he might. What is your point?

I think he's a good player and I think he should be given a chance as the second line center (probably with Strome then on the wing since trading him for futures doesn't make sense)

I also think it's outrageous to think because he had a 2.59 pts/60 last year that he's suddenly an elite 5v5 scorer and a top 30-50 5v5 player in the league and better than guys he outscored like Hertl, Marchessault, Teravainen, Pettersson, Ehlers etc.

I would expect him to score somewhere in the 1.7-1.9 pts/60 range assuming a normal shooting percentage. If he gets a lot of time with Panarin I would certainly expect that to be higher but that is not likely to happen.

Larry is either doing a phenomenal job of carrying water for the org to drive Eichel’s price down or he is senile. There’s no universe Buffalo is retaining 40/50% on Eichel, why even bring it up

And, also pretty much right where we left it, we are being told alternately by well-placed sources that the Rangers are, A) pretty skeptical of the value of dealing for Eichel; and, B) in regular communication with the Sabres over this matter.

Can both things be true at once? Probably. Maybe.

But here is one truth: if the Rangers do become active bidders for Eichel, it won’t necessarily be because they prefer the Sabres’ excommunicated ex-captain to Mika Zibanejad, but because they know they won’t be able to sign No. 93 to a contract extension.

Remember, unless the Sabres agree to eat 40 or 50 percent of Eichel’s $10 million annual cap charge, the math will prohibit the Rangers from having both him and Zibanejad past this season given the extremely tight squeeze the club will confront starting next season.

And then there’s this, which is just totally absurd
It is more so about the hierarchy’s belief that Zibanejad is a better player at this stage than Eichel.

He must be getting this from the team, this is just flatly false if both are healthy

The cheap Pegulas will authorize Adams to take a bath on any Eichel deal before retaining 40/50% on him.

They want him off the books
the way it's going, they'll have to give him out for free ("future considerations")

funny thing, we'd rather trade players, just for them to retain. If any sort of hockey sense prevails on the shores of lake Erie, they'll do it.

I do find it funny that Zac Jones was one of the reported pieces in an potential Eichel deal, and now that Buffalo is loaded on the left, the Rangers are having Jones play on the right lol

It won’t come to that imo

Buffalo will get an ok to decent return that may end up being good. They were never going to get a great to home run return like the team and fans were expecting though

Larry negotiating through the media for Slats again. The only way the Rangers will trade for Eichel is if Buffalo retains a significant amount of salary. This isn't the first we've heard of this.

Pass on the youngest Nylander. He stinks.

For free, Brown and MacEachern are both work a claim if they even get to the NYR. California teams likely claim both.

"Zibanejad-Eichel-Strome troika down the middle"
Amusing as it is, uncle Larry got the "troika" shtick slightly wrong. Troika in Russian is a "line", not just three of anything (if we're talking hockey ofc).
