Fair enough, though the situation down in Hartford isn't much better.

At this rate JG's going to hold everyone and this will be a moot point.

I considered your first point, but I still think it best to just let them play their seasons down there and call it a day. I don't care if we throw Letteri or Fogarty into the mix, because they are pretty much garbage anyway and are smiply warm bodies. I also like Jaskin more than the both of them and it costs nothing to give him a look for the rest of the year.

As for your second point, we may disagree on the minor issue of the claim, but I believe you and I will be two of the most upset people should this occur.

I really hope JG surprises us and moves almost everyone, thus precipitating a horrendous finish to the season that leads us to the top 3 promised land.

I'm sure they will talk, if they have not already, yet I'm not sure what kind of answer the Rangers are going to be looking for.

To put it this way, if I were Kreider I am looking at this next contract as the biggest I'm ever going to get. It's likely to be long term and I don't want to be traded to somewhere I do not want to go for that term so I am also demanding a clause. I'm not sure I am signing anything until I at least see what happens this UFA season to better gauge what I could get as a UFA next UFA season.

Unless the Rangers are offering something with a really restrictive clause, which also meets about what I'd think I'd get on the UFA market, two markets from now I'm probably not signing it.

Or, he loves the city, loves playing for the Rangers, and wants to stay. He will have made well over 50 million in his lifetime playing hockey for a marquee franchise. Not terrible. But, you could be right and he's looking to extract every penny from his next deal. I dont know, I'm not allowed in these conversations.

That could be, yet just about every player says the same thing, yet when it comes to negotiating a new contract it's business just as it is for the organization when they say they like/love this or that player, and then offer them less than they know it will take.

I don't really see that as the player or the organization trying to extract every penny, just both factions looking out for their best interests.

I know this will be unpopular....

IF we resign Hayes, I'd go after Laine and use Chytil or Andersson packaged with Pionk and/or Buch. Re-sign Zucc in the offseason.

Kreider Zibs Zucc
Kravtsov Hayes Laine

An actual top6

Either flip him for a pick, or take the compensatory pick for not accepting arbitration award if we did QO him

I'm not aware of any compensatory picks based on arbitration. Regardless, there is a minimum arbitration amount required to walk away and I seriously doubt Jaskin would get that much.

I am fairly sure there is no compensatory pick if the Rangers decline the ruling in arbitration. I'm not even sure there is one if HE decides to walk away (but that would be highly unlikely).

Same.

Gather 'round youngins', this is what it's like to win the Stanley Cup.

If nothing else they can try him out as a 4th liner for next year. He has good size and when he plays with an edge is effective. See if Quinn likes him and it gives the Rangers a body for the rest of the season.

There isn't. The only way there would be a pick involved is if another team game him an offersheet above $1.4 million or something.

You mean it will be unpopular with Winnipeg fans (*31 beat me to it). Because I don't think there is a single Rangers fan that would say no to using Andersson/Chytil, Pionk and Buch for Laine.

I don't care that he is having a down year. The conversation starts with our 1st and Kravtsov.

Hockey Central at Noon speculating that Nashville is the front runner for Duchene, likely with an extension. Mentioned Fiala as a guy whose name has been out there.
