Why has Zadorov been the topic of discussion for so long anyway?

He is way overvalued. We could probably target, like, 100 other guys that would be realistic and not require some sort of asinine overpayment.

Is Zadorov even that good? Like, obviously he's not enough to fetch Hayes 1-for-1, but is he even worth targeting?
Offensively he's nothing special. Defensively though, I think he's solid. Good gap control and a very active stick. He attacks puck carriers and does a good job down low. He's a big body and uses it well. He throws some explosive hits.

Zadorev seems like exactly the type of player that would fuel pages upon pages of debate on here --- just from the "eye test" crowd. I don't even know how the analytics crowd would view him.

Yeah I mean, I'm relatively familiar with who he is as a player. Not that it wouldn't be nice to have a player like that--I think Ryan Lindgren is of the same mold, not as big of course--but for someone like Hayes he seems like a secondary or tertiary piece to a deal.

Maybe the analytic nerds will shed some light on that. @Machinehead you're slacking bruh.
I mean, he's alright. He's sort of just there.

He's not Adam McQuaid, but he's closer to Adam McQuaid than he is to Dustin Byfuglien. (Just in terms of tough D, not factoring in Buff's offense)

If he came back for Hayes, it should be as an add. If he's the centerpiece, we got robbed.

We're talking about Zadorov as an add for Hayes while some Avs fans think he could get Kadri. What a world.
Fan values aren't an answer to trade values. It's a tool to use to access trade value. Fanbase A is here, Fanbase B is here. Actual value is just about snack day in the middle.

Hayes for a 1st and Makar on one extreme and Hayes for Zadorov at another. So Hayes for a 1st and a good prospect?

The Elliot Friedman edit is interesting. I've never seen him add something later because some fans chimed in. The conspiracy theory side of me wonders if he got a tip and that's how he covered his source.

I'm not seeing Hayes as the Colorado target. Namestnikov checks some of the boxes though. Possible depth scorer, has term left, won't deplete future assets, proven he can play with talent, value is low.

I can see Zadorov and Namestnikov as a base for a deal. Add on McQuaid or Claesson from our side, they add on an AHL prospect on theirs. We probably have to add. That makes sense with scouting both clubs.

Considering the way the Avs have been trending they wont be trading their 1st rd pick for a pending UFA. So this trade of Z + Col 1st can just POOF away. We are still in the rebuilding stage and making the playoffs brought some kind of expectation they were ready. They arent since Joe forgot to build a 2nd scoring line and it shows now.

Anyways good luck to you Ranger fans.. But i seriously doubt the Avs will be trading any 1st/2nd rd picks or 23 year old Dmen before the deadline

With the way the Av's have played over the last 15 games probably has them not doing anything major to push for playoffs. I am a bit concerned that the market for Hayes may be thin. If so Gorts has to be alert to any reasonable offers and pull the trigger maybe sooner rather than later.

Key difference is that Hayes is viewed by Avs as a rental. No value is given to signing Hayes long term because we see him (Avs fans don't?) filling their gap at 2C long term as part of their core.

I don't get it, what was edited?

We can't forget that this is how he is viewed, not by the Avs, but by Avs fans posting at hfboards. ;)

Makes sense if Colorado is interested in Namestnikov, but what would they even give up?

Their prospects don't interest me much if at all. I can't see them giving up Tyson Jost, and I am still not sure how much of a great add he would really be. What is the upside really? But seems to be a great character guy that probably can settle in to a 2nd-3rd line role. Connor Timmins is nothing but a gamble. Kaut? Yeah sure, but...

There have been friction between Quinn and Gorts on one side and Namestnikov on the other. Gorton was pissed at a few players for mailing it in late last season, if anyone did just that it was Names. Quinn has given Names a lot of tough love. Names/Buch has maybe not had the best influence on each other.

If we want to get rid of Names and the suitors aren't lining up, why not go after a Connor Timmins. Gamble.
