Makes sense if Colorado is interested in Namestnikov, but what would they even give up?

Their prospects don't interest me much if at all. I can't see them giving up Tyson Jost, and I am still not sure how much of a great add he would really be. What is the upside really? But seems to be a great character guy that probably can settle in to a 2nd-3rd line role. Connor Timmins is nothing but a gamble. Kaut? Yeah sure, but...

There have been friction between Quinn and Gorts on one side and Namestnikov on the other. Gorton was pissed at a few players for mailing it in late last season, if anyone did just that it was Names. Quinn has given Names a lot of tough love. Names/Buch has maybe not had the best influence on each other.

If we want to get rid of Names and the suitors aren't lining up, why not go after a Connor Timmins. Gamble.
I’m still guessing Meloche due to how much the Rangers were scouting the Eagles

One thing I've learned from these Hayes rumors is that Avs fans think every player they have is insanely valuable, and yet they haven't won a playoff series in 11 years.

They have a really horrible drafting record after the Barrie draft. Their kids just aren't any good. You could make an argument that Rykov would be a top 3 prospect for that organization...

Sakic and Drury are great friends. We have dealt with them recently. They need scoring depth, give Namesnikov a bit of a new start. Think he would be good option for them. But like when we are scouting them -- what can we find? Is there anything to find?

Namestnikov and Nils Lundkvist for Colorado's 1st...

I agree about Lundkvist of course, I think he is a solid selection that has done well after the draft.

But remember that Colorado’s selection as of today is the 14th overall pick. With lottery rights. Could end up being a pretty good pick.

Colorado is not going to rip the walls out to make the playoffs this year. They will deal for Hayes if they know they can sign him. They will make other changes around the edges. I originally thought that second number one would be available but if I am looking at it pragmatically from their POV, why? 6 weeks ago they looked like a team that would be picking in the 20s. Now they feel like a team that will struggle to make the playoffs and pick in the teens. The best the Rangers can hope for is that they get hot again.

This is Friedman's edit

(EDIT: Several Avs fans have reached out to suggest this may be about Vladislav, not Hayes.)

What does that mean? Regular fans tweeted or emailed him. Sometimes he discusses how NHL executives read his 31 Thoughts column and they let him know that he is wrong or give him more information about something he wrote.

Namestnikov has one more season left on his contract at $4M AAV. $4M salary. He has 4 goals this season. What is that worth? Maybe he isn't the player(production wise) he was in TB, but he should have more than 4 goals in 44 games.

I don't get it, what was edited?
I know you were confused when RB originally posted it. The bold of his post isn't an RB edit, it is literally an "Edit" insert that Friedman put in his article.

Just so we are clear, Friedman said that after he initially published his 31 Thoughts, Colorado fans hit him up and said the Avs may be interested in Vlad, not Kevin.

Less than a month until we can take a break from arguing about what the team should do in order to argue about what the team just did.
Really looking forward to all the asinine draft day trade proposals, armchair scouting assessments

Pretty sure they could care less. It's a business, Hank is a grown man and will deal with a friend getting traded if it happens.

Not so sure about that. Hank issued a "warning" now to the management. He will not even talk about how he could react mentally, there's definitely a risk it could affect his play for the worse.

Do you think they could trade Hank and Zucc together to the same team as a package deal?

Since Hank has a no trade clause he'll have to agree, and I don't think he wants to leave New York.

Sounds like a better draft pick for us, don't see the problem.

Reread the quote .."But at the same time, we all understand how this world works," Lundqvist said. "It's a business, and [there's] a lot of planning going into trading with teams. We're in a unique position right now, so we'll see what happens, but obviously I hope he'll stick around for many reasons."

Hank letting it affect his play is not Hank...
