Same. Something needs to be done.

I see a lot of posts talking about how Howden has simply hit the rookie wall. That may be true, but he's been virtually invisible for almost 3 months now. Can't just let a 20 year old developing player languish like that, so I like changing the status quo.

I think it's a bunch of factors. I think he's tired. I think he's hit the rookie wall. I think he hasn't been right since he had that injury scare.

But I've been saying for a while I would have had him go down for a bit. Just to get some confidence back and as a subtle nudge.

I'm not saying this is a bad idea, in fact I would be open to it, but it doesn't fit the DQ coaching style we have seen so far. He hasn't really done anything to earn a promotion to a better line. so I don't think he will be getting one.

There's no take...it's just what his numbers are. They are bad. There is no way to defend them. He wasn't good in October but had a bunch of flukey points. He's been one of the worst forwards in the league since then. Why is he a 20 year old who made the jump from junior directly to the NHL? Let him play big minutes with PP time in the AHL.

Agree, at some point Quinn has to decide that he isnt benefitting from NHL play. Send him down already and let him further develop. Not too late, unless they keep him, and will be inline with LOSING, which isnt good either. Give Nieves more time, even let Names play center on 3rd.....bring up Lettieri again, or Fogarty for that matter, FIND OUT MORE OF WHAT YOU HAVE, in this losing season. No need to WIN, duh.

OTH, with this all star break and all......maybe give Howden the benefit of doubt for 3 more games. If he doesn't "pick it up", then send him down. Maybe this time off, will be a reprieve for him.....that "wall" so to speak, can occasionally be climbed.

Infections are serious business. Especially if your job would involve putting the infected part of your body into a sweaty boot over and over.

To make matters worse, there's a large percentage of players who skate barefoot now. For players they feel the blade better w/out socks. They claim it helps their edge work and even footspeed. Not sure if Zucc is one of them, but...Have to take care of those quick. Even more so you have to clean your skates, and your skin often.

I am VERY bored at work. It's 8 PM but I am stuck here in a boring meeting, and no prospect playing to keep me busy

I hear ya man, except it's 2pm here in the states and everyone panicking about this ruthless cold front coming our way. Possibly minus 30-50 Fahrenheit. I read your stuff, I hope Kravtsov is the real deal!

Some on the main board have Hayes not even returning a first...

How does this happen every year? "Player X will never get a good return!" Then the deadline comes and they get one. Next year "Player Z will never get a good return!"

Anyone who doesn’t think Hayes returns a 1st hasn’t watched him play this year and isn’t credible.

Zucc needs to stop walking around barefoot.

You definitely should not be walking around in those third world countries barefoot especially into a bathroom....talk about slippery and deadly . LOL...of course alcohol does kill off a lot of stuff but certainly not all .

Stars’ other LDs are Lindell, Honka, and Heiskanen. Can we read more into them acquiring LD depth? Oleksiak is not a rental.

Are these musings coming from fans of the team that actually has to give the assets up? And so it goes...

Anyway, Hayes not netting a 1st is looney tunes. But I think we do need to be honest about how good the additional pieces would be. Suddenly, there's a lot of names being floated as trade bait that are better players than Hayes. Does an impactful roster player or highly touted prospect come along with that 1st? Im not so sure.

It's a combination of a lot of things. Primarily that the people on this board are overly obsessed with "the future" of their team. Every pick is absolutely necessary to keep and all of their prospects are definitely going to pan out and have to be kept to have "cheap guys on ELCs."

Then you approach the deadline and every fan thinks their team is going to get the #1 guy on the market. I see a lot of "If we're giving up a 1st, we'll just get Duchene" posts from fans. There's no guarantee that Duchene will hit the rental market and, if he does, only one team will get him. Calgary, Dallas, Winnipeg, Colorado, Pittsburgh, and Boston have all been rumored to be looking for upgrades at center. All six of them can't share Matt Duchene.

The long and short of it is that NHL font-office people put a much higher premium on winning than fans do. Especially fans that spend most of their time obsessing over futures.
