I think Howden simply hit the rookie wall, it doesn’t mean he needs to be sent down to tear up the AHL. He needs a rest, not a conditioning stint.

Send Howden down at least until the deadline. As mentioned, he needs big minutes in an offensive role. Bring him back with Andersson to finish out the year with the big club.

Lol and Andersson is suspect to even be an NHL player because he's 20 and only playing well in the AHL.
News Alert... I watch every Hartford game. Andersson is ok at best. Not playing great on a bad team. More like a contributor to the team being bad. He's playing a VERY uninspired game right now. But hey, he's a top 10 pick so we'll put up with his attitude because he's got incredible potential, right?? He'll be a bottom six agitator with decent skill. Only if he gets comfortable with that role.

News alert, you're not the only person who follows him and your opinion is one of many opinions, not objective fact.

No, we'll put up with it because he just turned 20 this season and is the youngest player on the pack...this is extremely common among young players, it's part of the development. Unfortunately not every top 10 draft pick steps right into the NHL at 20 years old and can play a strong role.

Now is the perfect time. When late February comes, Hayes will be gone and who knows who else. They'll need him to fill the lineup. Now they can play Hayes/Mika/Boo/Names at C if they need while Howden plays in the AHL.

I'm not opposed to him sitting. Just figured it would have been better before the break, but whatever. It's a good thing for him.

Quinn said it was a one day thing.

Hayes
#13 keeps pushing the agenda that he "wants to stay here". Not sure how this pans out but I do agree that long term success of this club is to deal him for assets.

Would assume we will hear some fresh news this week. Maybe some new teams will emerge? We keep talking Colorado...Scenario after scenario. Scouting each other. AHL games etc. Hayes would be a really good fit. They have the cap space. They have the extra first rounder. They have assets. I question how much of a bubble playoff team is going to pay for a Rental?

If the Avs maybe go on a good run like 7-3 in their next 10 then maybe they are buyers. Or...can the NYR let Hayes agent speak to the Avs prior to a deal? If not, would probably be a wise move to speak to a few other GM's. Of course they probably are already.

Part 2 of Colorado thing is it very much could be different players involved. Ones with Term? Maybe even a prospect for prospect type of a deal?

Panarin
Started off the season thinking the team isn't ready yet to go all in via free agency. The more i watch Panarin, the more id like to see him in a NYR sweater. Granted their peaks (Team vs Player) likely won't coincide at the same time, i still think when you do have the opportunity to land a player of his caliber w/out dispersing assets to acquire him, it's hard to say no.

Reports that he will discuss contract negotiations will have some impact at the trade deadline. Not that Columbus is going to trade him, but teams that were prepared to go after him via free agency would need to make other plans.

How long is he out? Day to day in Rangers land is sometimes more than one or two days. Look at Hayes and McQuaid. Week to week.

I don't think Howden hit the rookie wall. Of the 298 forwards to play 100+ mins in October he still had the 242nd best CF% and 262nd best shot rate. He had a bunch of flukey points early thanks to shooting 20%. He didn't start particularly well either. It's the same thing as Lindberg. At least he's younger so hopefully he will get better. Very weird narratives around this guy I guess because he was part of the McDonagh trade?

Yes, quite the take about a 20 year old who made the jump from juniors directly to the NHL.
