Winnipeg is a team that could add Hayes without surrendering a 1st round pick. Their pool is pretty deep on the wings and have no room for these guys in their top-9. Losing Stastny to Vegas was less painful because everyone thought Roslovic would step in and finally take that #2C spot but he's been less than stellar. They're also facing some big cap decisions this summer and might have to finally cut ties with Trouba. What's some cap relief worth to Chevy in a Hayes rental?

Mason Appleton is a guy I could see the Rangers targeting. Righty shot with size, hockey IQ, and a great work ethic. He also has very good vision. The Jets have him a million wingers and he's been up with the team since December and getting less than 10 minutes a night.

Nic Petan is a guy who could be a throw-in to take a flier on. Add a second rounder but make it a 1st if the Jets want to shed salary.

I'd like to see them pry away Vesalainen. He'd be able to step into our middle six next year and become part of that future core. They really do have too many wingers ready to make it but being pushed down for the foreseeable future with vets and Connor, Laine.

Don't think Roslovic or Samberg are up for trade, but pretty much anyone else in the Jets Prospect pool is probably available.
That’s all fine and good but then maybe they don’t line up as partners.

Bottom line is we got taken for a walk every deadline during our contending years. Some of the trades i dont regret and some i do. But we paid the piper each time. We arent here to do other teams favors just as we werent done any. 1st round pick after 1st round pick was dealt. Duclair dealt. 2nd round picks dealt.

Chevy isn't in the business of trading ELC assets that can play a role on his team. Even Appleton might be a stretch.

I would love to see one of their premier prospects on the Rangers, because WPG knows how to draft. But if you are getting contributing pieces, then you take it with a pick and a smile on your face. If the trade offer is Poolman, Appleton, & 1st. Odds are that all 3 of those pieces might be on your roster in 3 years.... and that is outstanding for a rental.

Nogier got a scouting look-see the last two years. They've got other AHL contributors.

But Samberg, Vesalainen, Roslovic-> That's not going to happen.

It's funny, Roslovic is really well thought of now, but back in his draft year, he was a pretty far reach over the concensus. I've modeled some aggregated draft rankings in my spare time, and Jack was one of the few that bumped up over 10 spots across the board.

It's no Ninnimaki, but usually you don't see that too often. Ty Dellandrea was another one last year.

Same. Something needs to be done.

I see a lot of posts talking about how Howden has simply hit the rookie wall. That may be true, but he's been virtually invisible for almost 3 months now. Can't just let a 20 year old developing player languish like that, so I like changing the status quo.

It's his game in the offensive zone. He's not playing with guys that go hard to the net, cycle, or even show up every game, but I'd still like to see Howden do more than just his defensive duties. Which to be fair, he's done a good job of for the most part. I'm not complaining about his backcheck, shot blocks, hustle, and face-off ability. It's more of the game with the puck.

If I was Brett, I'd be pissed playing next to a Jimmy Vesey.

I'd like a poll on how many people know that Vesey is third in goals scored this season and might notch 20 if he stays healthy. Besides- everyone knows Howden's ceiling is 4C. Vesey is a gift.

We got Vesey and Hayes for free. People should remember that. Probably the equivalent of a 1st & 2nd round pick. Whether they play for us or return draft picks, Avery16 is right, it's a gift.

And the CBJ's will get Tavaresed, like the Islanders did. AMIRITE?

I don't know. They might end up signing some really good UFAs even if they lose Bob and Panarin. Bob's a loss they can absorb, they've got the ability to go with a tandem. So you would think a guy like Talbot, and Korpisalo can hold it down.

Add in two top six forwards, and they are back at where they are or better depending upon who they sign.

CLB has a great culture and locker room. They're media game is better than it ever was, and those are things they owe to Torts. It's like watching the 2012 Rangers team, but with a more composed Torts. That's a tight knit group that plays for each other.

What they lack is offensive consistency in their middle six. Say they lose Panarin, and Bob. But sign Duchene, Silfverberg, and Talbot.

Add in a piece or two on their farm, and they aren't too far off where they are now, or even better.

This isn't said nearly enough around here

But not one you win with imo.

Hey, I got this Rolex as a gift from a friend. I wore it every day for the last 4 years, but I am ready to get a new watch. I took great care of it and the care I put into it has actually made it nicer over the years. It originally cost 10K. Actually, you know what?, you can have it because I got it for free.
