It really doesn't. DeAngelo rarely produces and I think Shattenkirk might be done.
Still can be counted on for first passes under pressure and smart defensive plays. In this sense, his relative lack of scoring doesn’t mean he’s “done”, just that our defense squad now has a Rick Nash on it.

not a

just not true at all, he was supposed to be the #2 on en elite pairing with mcdonagh, but hes really better suited on the second pair away from top competition.

the difference is in st louis he could be “the guy” on that second pair, but in NY whether its the injuries or decline or a combination, im not sure he can carry the majority of the load. we shall see nect year after a full summer of rest and hopefully him avoiding injury near start of season if he can return to form we signed him in or if he needs just as good as defenseman with him

Actually it was very, very true according to an awful lot of people.

People tend to romanticize players they dont watch every day. Shattenkirk is exactly what I'd thought he'd be and why I disliked the signing. A #5-6 PP QB.

Hopefully we can dump him and Smith in the offseason. For the same salary of Smith+Shatty we can upgrade to a Karlsson

Who are we watching from the Avs?

They sent down Jost already, so it's definitely not him.

I tend to agree. I don’t see why this kid was called up. Not even close to ready. Not a knock on him he’s 20 but he shouldn’t be here. Like I’ve said it’s more a knock on Libor Hajek if you ask me. If Lindgren is more ready that’s extremely disappointing

my theory is maybe they see that they have too many defensemen prospects coming up soon and decided Lindgren does not fit their plans so they give him some NHL games to raise his trade value and package him in some big trade.

For a guy who was supposed to definitely be a #1 defensemen before we signed him, Shattenkirk has an awful lot of excuses made for him.

A little more nuanced but the discussion was wether he could play on a first pair (i.e. play with McD) rather than whether he’s #1 himself. What the Rangers had at RD also factored in, however injuries, AV and the trade were actual factors that determined the outcome here, not “performance” as I’d define it.

Could just be looking at their depth players as a throw-in instead of a 4th round pick or something. Sven Andrighetto and Matt Nieto look like stereotypical reclamation project guys

Their journalist says it could be Barrie, who's 1) a bad fit for the Rangers, just a better version of our three-headed offensive defenseman monster and 2) not someone the Avs should move

Barrie is not the type of futures Gorton is going to want or ask for.

This clearly disqualifies Dater as knowing anything about the organization he's paid to cover, or our organization.

Shattenkirk looks fine to me, really don’t get what the big deal is.

Forget the Rangers, why the hell are the Avs trading Barrie?

Any chance McQuaid goes back to Bruins at the deadline as a rental ? I am asking that without checking on Bruin D depth first . Definitely would be a good fit for them in the room and insurance of sorts if injuries occur at some point in playoffs at a low cost .

Yeah I mean have a hard time believing the Avs would part with Compher/Kerfoot when the reason they’d be seeking Hayes is to pick up some much needed secondary scoring.

Their first could be a nice get but I’d rather look for someone like Kaut

Shattenkirk is really looking much better lately. I don't know if it enough to build his trade value this season though. Still a long time to run on that contract. Perhaps this time, next year?
And that might be perfect timing anyway. By then, maybe someone from Hartford will be ready to absorb some 3rd pair minutes.
