Trading Barrie for Hayes makes zero sense for Avs. They need help on the blue line, they shouldn't be subtracting. Any Hayes trade will be for picks and/or prospects.
Interesting. I hadn’t thought of it. But maybe Staal does get moved. His contract and his play are much closer to each other than they have been in years. And the Rangers could eat some money, making him even more attractive. Good point. I doubt it happens, still. But it’s not out of the realm of possibility.I’d still think he’s a depth guy . McQuaid will be dealt and maybe Staal waives to the right team
Yeah, personally I’d go with “Dater is a complete waste of oxygen”
Deadline deals are made using surplus. The Avs have 2 1st round picks. A couple of decent prospects. It's not hard to figure out the return. No one deals for playoff help by gouging out a new hole.Trading Barrie for Hayes makes zero sense for Avs. They need help on the blue line, they shouldn't be subtracting. Hold your horsesI'm not writing him off...
Looking at the results of the first two games
Hayes (1/2 salary retained) + 2nd RD pick for Colorado 1+ Kamenev, Bowers and a conditional 2nd or 3rd IF Hayes re-signs? Am I out to lunch?
My fantasy team is sad, but at least I just traded for MacKinnon like two days agoRantanen got hurt tonight. Didnt come back in the 3rd. Could just have been preventative since they were up 7-0 already.
Fyi these were the Rangers scouts in Denver today.
Kept out for precautionary reasons. He's expected to play next game.Rantanen got hurt tonight. Didnt come back in the 3rd. Could just have been preventative since they were up 7-0 already.
Looks to me like Colorado considering Zucc more than Hayes and probably as a backup to Panarin
Hayes for Girard obviously![]()
I think it was last year, and I think it was something like LA wanted Nash and the Rangers scouts were following Kempe aroundWas it 1 or 2 years ago we really zoomed in on LAK before the deadline? I never quite understood what those talks were about. Nothing really made sense. Doesn’t necessarily have to be the Avs we are looking at, maybe something picked up with LA again...
i really dont know what happened to smith. one of the weirdest things ive ever seen. last year he was out of shape, this year hes skating like hes back in shape, but its almost like hes forgot how to pass the puck and defend. really dont get it. could it be a really severe confidence issue?
either way, were not getting rid of him unless its through buy out or trade for another bad deal. id rather keep him as spare D than have a kid called up to sit out. also dont care for him being sent down cause that takes playing time away from the prospects.
besides, we wont really need his cap space until after his deal is over, and if we need it before, just buy him out. id personally ride out the contract
I think I clearly premised this as a personal guess. I mean, if this thread is suddenly beyond spitballing, please let me know. That would be a shocker. You got this from the scouting list?
Who are we watching from the Avs?
They sent down Jost already, so it's definitely not him.
Barrie is not the type of futures Gorton is going to want or ask for.
I can't imagine them moving him now when their only other option is Erik Johnson. Makar isn't ready to jump into that role yet, Timmins has had concussion issues all season, and Meloche would only give them a good 3RD option right now.Retain 50% on Barrie (this and next) and swing him elsewhere — plenty of teams looking for a RD. Barrie is a talent kid. Not sure why the Avs would deal him though...
Buch for Pool Party..
straight swap or we can take some salary
I don't think Buch is good or has a future here.At this stage, that looks like a trade where we acquire someone who might one day be as good as the player we are giving up
