I like! Unfortunately, I think Sakic is very high on Kaut plus he seems to be quite stingy when it comes to trading. Big fan of Hayes and Zucc but I would sign for 2 firsts and Kaut for Hayes/Zucc.
Sakic is definitely stingy, but I think he understands the prices set by the market. If he genuinely wants to make a run for the cup and thinks that Hayes is that piece then he will have to pay that price regardless of his prior trading history. He got a haul for Duchene and maybe he can dig a bit into the piggy bank to get that piece that can push them over the top (It wont). Realistically I see them losing in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Edmonton doesn't have capable forwards in the system, they need to make the post season, and the ELC players have to play now.

The first, because their system kinda sucks, and third, because of their cap situation, reasons I buy. The second... he’s clearly not ready to help them get there.

They do have a couple of youngsters doing fairly well in Bakersfield in Marody and Benson. It isn’t like there are absolutely no other options.

I guess it comes back to trying to justify decisions. Chiarelli is under the microscope so he is caught up in a game of forcing it. 4th overall pick has to pan out. To be 100% fair though, Hitch asked to have puljujarvi up with the big club.

Kaut and a 1st would be a great return for Hayes. More realistically, I think if Kaut is involved, a 2nd or a 3rd and a 4th is a more realistic return.

Kaut would be an awesome get and add to our freakishly big and talented group of players we’re assembling.

I’d much rather him and a later draft pick than a guy like Kamenev and a 1st. I just question whether or not Colorado has any intention of trading him.

Kamenev might be a bit fragile. He's had a fairly long stint of injuries. I like Kaut better, but I'm not sure if COL are buyers this year. They were a year early last year, and are tracking where they should be this year. I just don't see COL as premium buyers. They are not a contender.

For that 1st & prospect price, a team has to believe that they are going to the conference finals, and Hayes is a difference maker in their line-up. In other words, he gives them something to put them over their division rivals at the very least.

Same with Zucc.... and the price tag may become higher if Zuccy keeps up his play.... but still a ways away from that.

IMO- I'd be more focused on getting prospects moreso than picks. Picks are great, you need them, and hopefully that extra 1st from the Hayes deal pans out in a trade. But if a team doesn't have draft currency, and prospects, good ones... you make that deal if the player fits what you're looking for.

I'd also be curious to see what McQuaid brings back- it might be higher than anyone thinks.

Same with McLeod. I know teams are looking for a Wilson neutralizer out east- and the price tag on Simmonds and Ferland come with a higher premium. In the west, teams are concerned about a 7 game series going long against Carrier and Reeves. It's not the fists that they are concerned about, but those players testing team's depth and battle fatigue.

@Mikos87 we do talk an awful lot about teams like the Avalanche, Oilers, Hurricanes, and Sabres. One contender we talk about a lot are the Jets. We don’t talk as much as maybe we should about the Flames (never), Predators (never), Leafs (outside of pie in the sky stuff), or Bruins (sometimes).

While it's nice to see them play well and win, I still want that top pick. **** is like kissing your sister on the lips.

Blackhawks and Kings get 5 of the last 10 Cups, and they're both well on their way to a top pick. The ****.
Their goalies are breaking down, while Henrik is still chugging along. That's your reason why.

In addition to lacking depth, speed and having big contracts. I can see Chicago turning it around this offseason with all the capspace they should have. If LA was smart they would re-tool.

The satisfaction of being awarded a top pick lasts much longer than tonight's win, that's for sure.

Or SJ. I'm looking at DAL, SJ, NSH, TOR, & PIT as dance partners, at the TDL and beyond, while COL has been looking for Hayes, but if they trade for him, they want to re-sign him. He fits like a glove on that team. I'd say he's in play if they can re-sign him, and they are definitely in position to do that.

Jets are interesting, but Chevy is a tough guy to make a trade with... but they need a different center than Little to make Laine go. Question is, do they have that center in-house and aren't playing him in Schiefele?

Cause Laine needs a playmaker, and Scheifele can do that. As can this dude named Wheeler, but their coach doesn't play Laine with those two.... why? I don't know.

Leafs- they are a very nice fit for McQuaid. They want a top 4 RHD, and a gritty 4th line veteran. McQuaid would be a very good depth piece for them.

DAL- more of a draft day deal depending on free agency outlook.

NSH/PIT- Zucc.

SJ- McLeod.

BOS/WPG/SJ/Vegas/COL- Hayes
