Has Sakic ever made a risky trade? He strikes me as a running scared GM. Maybe I’m wrong. But everything I hear is, Colorado *won’t* trade this guy. Or, that guy is *off the table*. Boring.

If Colorado is going to be trading for Hayes with the strong intention to re-sign him, there better be some conditionals involved.

Craziest conditional ever.

If they don’t resign him this year, Rangers get the Colorado 1st. If they do resign him, the Rangers get the Ottawa 1st, as long as it’s not top-5. If they do resign him and the Ottawa pick is top-5, they get Colorado’s 1st and 2nd this year.

What if they sign him after the draft?

any of those conditional picks would have to be 2020 picks.

That’s a fair point. Could make it even crazier. All those conditions apply, but if they sign him after the draft, the Rangers get the Colorado 2020 2nd (which would be in addition to the Colorado 2019 1st)

While it's nice to see them play well and win, I still want that top pick. **** is like kissing your sister on the lips.

Blackhawks and Kings get 5 of the last 10 Cups, and they're both well on their way to a top pick. The ****.

WELCOME!

I like Hayes as a fit in Winnipeg, but I just don’t know if are ready for another deadline deal. They moved a first and a good (not great) prospect for Stastny. They still have a pretty deep farm. Hayes would be a terrific compliment for Laine.

You trade too many firsts and you end up looking like...wait for it...the Rangers.

Colorado seems a long way from being a serious Cup contender. I see them in the same light as Carolina...willing to trade to get into the playoffs and make some noise but not seeing themselves as an all in team.

The draft comes before free agency kicks in. Any conditional add on would have to come in 2020.

Well both CBJ & Pens lost - good news for Rangers playoffs push with this winning streak! ;)

The only thing is Winnipeg has to win now with this group. Trouba won't be there next season with his contract demands. Laine is up for a big contract. They need a left handed center for him. This year might be their year to win with Trouba still on the team. You know they won't get a D to replace him next season. It's hard.

Maybe Chris Kreider to the Avs. I remember Joe Sakic was interested in Max Pacioretty when Montreal was looking to move him last season. Pacioretty had the same amount of term left. Kreider is signed for another season. Kreider and Pacioretty are the same player. The Avs #1 pick, Tyson Jost or Martin Kaut and another asset for Kreider. They could use a D. Adam McQuaid would be an upgrade for them. That Avs #1 will be a mid first round pick. They might be miss the playoffs without an addition.

Mika Zibanejad is also what the Avs really need.

What would the Avs give up for a Kevin Hayes and Kreider package deal?

Kevin Fiala is having an awful season. Nashville can use any offensive contributions. Is Fiala available? He was an elite player last season. It's obvious Peter Laviolette has no use for him this season. The player's contract is up after this season. Can the Rangers get Fiala out of Nashville? The Predators can also use Kreider. The Jets have these big monsters and Nashville could use some size upfront.

This is from last season.

Yeah, and it’s interesting because normally guys like him follow some kind of pattern which themselves experienced.

Colorado gatehered a strong young teams and then were really aggressive with helping that team take the next step. Sundin for Clark was maybe not the best move, but Ozo for Nolan were critical. Getting Roy was critical. And so forth and so forth.

A few good games won't affect his trade value. His value is set. Look at how Nash and Eric Staal's bad seasons did not affect their trade value one bit. It works both ways

In a sense I agree, it works both ways as such: values are set and yet they fluctuate around that base and can be tinkered with.

Let's put it this way. There is his base value, it's set based on ability (material). Then there are perceived values, which are split in the actors needs and marketing.(ideal)

There will always be demand at the TDL. Specially since we can retain salary under the new CBA. And Zuccarello is known throughout the league. They are watching and seeing him come back to form should definitely be exploited by management.

I am not sure Zucc's value changes too much in a vacuum, but I do think it certainly makes GMs more willing to pull the trigger on a deal for him. Before you probably have a lot of teams worried about giving away the true value for him based on his play this season because you weren't sure if it was just a full on decline in skill or the situation hes in.

Now that people see he is still capable of high level play I think you will have more teams interested in meeting Gorton's demands.

The more GMs actually willing to make a move for him, the better the deal will be overall.

saw a post about someone not wanting to sign panarin. i can see both sides. if you sign panarin hes all youre getting. but if you bring zucc back after trading him (if that would even be an option) on a cheaper deal, you have some more cap to sign one more forward. imo panarin is option #1 easily, and going after zucc + another FA is 2nd option.

continuing to see shattenkirk hate. hes played much better. not a top pair defenseman, but very capable of playing on one of the other 2 pairings that generally seem to see the same ice time (or close to it). while i think ADA should be given PP1 mins, im fine with shattenkirk on PP2, especially with a bit more talent next year.

chytils starting to see the pucks go in. his success makes me worry about if his career is going to be as a winger or a center, but i guess we’ll worry about thay later and just enjoy his success.
