Bowers would be another solid prospect for this system. He’d be another in the mold of Howden who projects as a nice middle-6 forward. I’d be interested in him for sure.

I would really like to get Jost though.

Maybe Chris Kreider to the Avs. I remember Joe Sakic was interested in Max Pacioretty when Montreal was looking to move him last season. Pacioretty had the same amount of term left. Kreider is signed for another season. Kreider and Pacioretty are the same player. The Avs #1 pick, Tyson Jost or Martin Kaut and another asset for Kreider. They could use a D. Adam McQuaid would be an upgrade for them. That Avs #1 will be a mid first round pick. They might be miss the playoffs without an addition.

Mika Zibanejad is also what the Avs really need.

What would the Avs give up for a Kevin Hayes and Kreider package deal?

Kevin Fiala is having an awful season. Nashville can use any offensive contributions. Is Fiala available? He was an elite player last season. It's obvious Peter Laviolette has no use for him this season. The player's contract is up after this season. Can the Rangers get Fiala out of Nashville? The Predators can also use Kreider. The Jets have these big monsters and Nashville could use some size upfront.

This is from last season.

Creating a Monster: Why Kevin Fiala is Fundamental to Nashville’s Success
I would love to add Fiala if the deal was reasonable.

As far as trading CK to COL, 1st+ Kraut or Jost is honestly not enough. I am in no way blown away by that package.

That’s extremely poor assets management imo. Why trade CK for $0.75 on the on dollar?

Kevin Hayes is the ideal piece for Colorado to add for the next 5-6 years. That top line is going to continually tear the league apart. They need someone who can take tough matchups and provide some offense. Add Hayes and find a good 2-way winter to play with him and their top-6 will be built well. A guy like Silfverberg comes to mind as a UFA this year.

Hayes to Colorado. It would seem that if Sakic and Gorton knew there was an interest there, they could discuss with Kevin whether he would be interested and if so, what would interest him. They have cap space and the need for a player like him. Duchene is the other UFA center this year and there’s NO WAY he returns. Soderberg hasn’t worked out.

Jost + Bowers + COL 1st ‘19 + Conditional COL 1st ‘20 (if he re-signs) for Hayes + Vesey

Hayes and Shattenkirk (with some money retained) for Barrie, Bowers Avs #1 and a conditional 2nd in 2020 if either Hayes resigns or Avs gets to the conference finals this season.

Barrie to the Leafs for their #1 and Grundstrom.

Have there been Barrie trade rumors this season?

There were tons of them last year but I assumed he was off the table now.

Serious question

Would anyone be upset if the Rangers traded Shattenkirk at this deadline while retaining half his cap hit? Obviously it would depend on the return but would anyone be vehemently against the idea?

I would not be upset. I dont think Shattenkirk would be against it either, especially if it's to a competing team.

I live in Nashville but rarely watch their games. But their centers collectively are underwhelming. A possible 1st round out if something isn’t done to rectify the ship. And yes Kreider would fit in well here.

His take there is BS anyway. For one thing, Fiala is essentially getting the same ice-time he did last year. ~13 minutes even strength, 2nd PP unit, no PK time. Hardly sounds like a coach who "has no use for him this year." For another, Fiala is pacing to have basically the same season he did last year because after he had those 42 points in 62 games cited in that article, he had 6 in his next 18 to finishing the year with 48. He's pacing 45 this year. The first stat cited in the article praises Fiala for his 1.64 P1/60. This year? 1.64 P1/60.

There are ways in which he isn't doing as well, but I'd say that's true of the entire Preds team this year. They're still really good, but last year's regular season was basically unconscious. In no way is Fiala having an awful year. Some variation, but he's 22. Don't think the Preds have any interest in moving him.

I want to give the minutes to Pionk and ADA, so yeah. If we're retaining 50% for the remainder of the contract, I'd hope for some decent futures.

Liljegren is available from Toronto. He'd be a good pickup, I remember a lot of this board wanting to draft him in 2017.

It’s not that long of a contract and I don’t think we will need tremendous amounts of cap space (unless we want to go get EK and Panarin maybe? Not sure as haven’t checked cap friendly or anything like that) so I actually like the idea in theory.

Would have to be a justified return though. Shatty at half price for a few playoff runs can be a very valuable asset if GMs believe he can sustain he better play (he has been better recently).

Love Liljegren. Was projected top-3 for a while but dropped in his draft year due to mono

I've lost a bit of interest in Liljegren. He is more and more trending in an direction to become a pure PP specialist. He could have value as such, sure, but there are so many younger PMDs coming up. Liljegren isn't showing much speed coming out of his own end and so forth, he isn't adopting that dynamic modern skating game offensively.

I actually like TDA more than Liljegren.

Not a huge fan of Bowers or Jost, would prefer a more offensively talented prospect even if it means less quantity.

If we can get him cheap, I'd be all for it

I think retaining half is too much. He makes what $6mil? Still have Giriardi's hit next season. That over $6mil in cap space for two players then wouldn't even be here

Or you can pay 6.5 for the next two years.

I don't think it matters financially or play wise.

If we can get an asset for him I think we do it. Don't care about our cap right now, don't care about our play right now.

Care about building for the future and that is ALL
