Well we’re f*cked. Haha
This organization continues to just be pathetic in the face of the chance to legitimately build a continuing contender. Nothing but mistakes constantly. This is bananas. I can’t believe this is all coming out days before the TDL. Very bush league.
Basically our whole team has a NMC. That’s hilarious.
McDavid is 28 and Drai is 29. Oilers have literally pissed away their careers. If I'm McDavid- I want out. Oilers aren't helping him build a legacyWell we’re f*cked. Haha
I don't think the NMCs really impact much. I seriously doubt the Oilers were looking at moving either of Henrique or Arvidsson this season. I think the plan is to add to the current group, and while both have been disappointing, neither are the worst forwards playing.
Skinner I could see them wanting to move on from, but I don't see why he wouldn't waive as long as he's going to a playoff team. If they add two forwards, I don't see him getting any playoff time anyway, so not sure why he'd want to stay.
I'd say the opposite. Henrique played well here, and took a discount so the NMC is somewhat justified. At least with Arvidsson you can argue that the team definitely needed an upgrade at wing in the top 6 so you push a little harder.
How the hell does a 35 year old 3C get a NMC from a team that(at the time) already has Ryan McLeod under contract? Crazy stuff.
The only surprising thing is that it's not surprising at all. This is bananas. I can’t believe this is all coming out days before the TDL. Very bush league.
I dont want a local goalie for this runHe really isn’t. The only good thing about Jarry is he’s already in the minors.
#JustOilerThingsWhy tf would you give a NMC to viktor arvidsson

I don't buy it. I think the Oilers need to find a way to get back some of their secondary scoring and improve their PK.Fair but if we don’t improve on Skinner we are wasting the rest of McDavid and Draisaitls prime.
The acquisition cost. The cost of long-term is significant, if you're suggesting it's notable.Who says you have to take the entire contract back?
I think we're mostly on the same page here, but my view very simply is that if Kane comes back early that means that either:
A) The Oilers botched their plan for deadline cap space completely, or
B) They didn't even have a plan for deadline cap space to botch
It's a really ugly look either way.

I think the Oilers need an upgrade on their 3rd string/minor league affiliate in case someone gets hurt or one of their games goes completely off the rails.
I understand that it's not a popular argument, but there's a very reasonable chance that in the instance you make that big goalie move, those other areas don't improve and you end up with similar results.
Addressing the goaltending doesn't necessarily fix the goaltending. As indicated by the RV and Skinner signings. How are Draisaitl's wingers this year?
We still have to compete against the teams in our conference who are adding at the deadline. Status quo means we'd be walking into the playoffs with a weaker roster, just a different goalie.

Elias Pettersson is the best player in the NHL’s all-Canadian North Division
One thing sets Pettersson apart from the other stars for Canadian teams.www.nsnews.com
Rempe for Pettersson - who says no?
Especially with these short term deals, for players that aren't in high demand. It should be a privilege to play alongside McDavid or Draisaitl, there's no reason for Oiler GMs to be so desperate that they need to hand out NMC's to middling free agents. The way the Oilers slap trade protection onto every single contract they sign is probably the thing that bugs me the most about how this Front Office operates.
This guy is a nobody but he does work for Edmonton Sports Talk who do have connections to the team. Skip the last minute where he says an Oiler has requested a trade. I wonder if it's skinner
We probably have the worst goaltending duo in the league. Goaltending is arguably the most important position.I don't buy it. I think the Oilers need to find a way to get back some of their secondary scoring and improve their PK.

I've always thought part of the point of these clauses was to reduce AAV.Especially with these short term deals, for players that aren't in high demand. You don't want to play with McDavid or Draisaitl on a contending team without a NMC? Fine, we'll find somebody else who does. Simple
