I think Lindgren is more than big enough and physical enough based on historical precedent.

Lindgren is not the issue. If he's the 3rd biggest defender on the team, that's the issue.

If San Jose has another disaster season, his production could suffer along with coming back from major surgery. It usually takes a year or so to get back to speed ( if at all )

O’Reilly: I just don’t see why Blues would be having him up for trade offers. They can still be a solid team and made a few solid moves with Saad and Buch. Trading O’Reilly doesn’t make much sense

It depends on how many new revenue streams the NHL can create. I hope the Rangers make a deal with Pornhub for the advertisement logo on the sweater. Make it interesting. Ive heard Nils compared to Pionk and Girardi in the last few pages and I have no idea where it could be possibly coming from other than North American bias.

From what I’ve heard and read Nils is performing very well in a men’s league in Sweden. I don’t see why it won’t translate to the NHL. Hopefully it does.

exactly what you said about mika or bust is why mika is going to be able to drag us over the coals for a contract if he wants to. he has all the leverage with his ntc in the final year (preventing us from moving him for assets without his okay) and he knows nyr will need to sign him if they cant land someone by trade...

the Rangers will lose at least one, maybe two, kids everybody wants to keep if Zibby gets that kind of contract.

Would some other teams in do or die situations offer 8.5 for 8 years? Start a bidding/NMC/signing-bonus-all-years war? Not so far fetched. Are we gonna say thanks but no thanks to Mika over that? We need him to compete for a cup. He's older to be offering 8+ years, but like you said he's really our only option for a bonafide #1 C.

The alternative to Mika is acknowledging that the strength of this team as a contender will be on the wings and defense vs the center position. And that's ok. Someone or multiple someones are going to be able to be had of the stacked 2022 and 2023 UFA/RFA groups.

It's better than locking the team into Mika over the next 6-8 years with the idea that he will magically be something he shows major question marks of actually being over much of that timeframe...an elite two-way C worth $8-10M+ annually.

If he is a $8-10M PP specialist that has to be sheltered 5v5 in 2024-5 with 4-6 years remaining on an albatross deal, when the cap is still mostly flat, that is a nuclear warhead to the entire rebuild.

IF he would go for 8 years 64M, 5 years of NMC would be fine. Ideally, 7 years would be best if we're looking for the 'sweet spot'. 7 years 60M
