Riddle me this:

Why can’t Kreider be moved and re-signed next summer?

It’s not something we see too often, but I don’t see an edict from god forbidding it.

Just some food for thought.

There’s very little chance he makes it to free agency.

You wanna be more specific?
Look at every deadline asset ranking. Everyone lists Hayes as a 3C but people are saying he’s going to return the moon...

And Zucc is a cult hero in Rangerstown, but to every other team he’s just a middle six forward.

It’s always possible, but there are typically two approaches players take:

1. They want guaranteed security and sign an extension with their new team. This helps them offset the risk of injury or a down year.

2. They test unrestricted free agency and the allure of more money, a better team, a better fit, or a better deal becomes very hard to pass up.

I asked the same question with Hayes. Sure it doesn't happen very often, but it's certainly a possibility.
The issue with Kreider is that he's got longer than Hayes to get comfortable with a new team and receive a substantial offer that would see him forego FA,. But again, you could certainly let him know you'd be open to bringing back if he was hit FA.

What is the moon? I’m not sure what proposals we’re talking about.

And want big ransom are we talking about with Zucc?

We didn’t trade Zucc last year when we had the opportunity to sell high, and now he’ll return less as a rental.

Some of these posts re: Kreider sound just like things I read about Zucc this time last year. Let’s not make the same mistake.

What trade was that? So I can compare to Zuccarello's return now, and the potential Kreider ask? I'm not finding any trade rumors for Zuccarello last year?

As far as the 3rd line tag on Hayes mentioned in other posts: Ladd, Hanzel, Sutter all brought back decent returns. I'm not sure I buy that he would be a 3rd liner for the acquiring team, but it doesn't really impact what he should return based on historical examples.

The possibilities, or potential “next moves” are also intriguing to me.

A year ago I would’ve said that sliding Skjei back into a second pairing role would help him considerably. Today, I’m not as sure about that, but it remains a possibility.

But even the opposite approach, moving him, has its own share of windows it could potentially open. Especially if the Rangers end up with someone like Byram in the first.

I still think it would help Skjei to move back into that role. My reasoning lends more towards the organizational pipeline at LD. You make that Nurse deal and you've got Nurse, Miller, and Hajek down the left side. Sure, the later two are totally unproven and nothing more than potential, but I look at that group and say, "Okay, Nurse is a top-4 guy, so I theoretically only need one of Hajek and Miller to pan out." I like my odds there enough to gamble with a chip like Skjei to see if I can add a young forward or package of futures. I think that's where you can earn your big payout because Skjei is young, has plenty of term left on his deal, and he's shown he can be much better than he has been of late.

31 Thoughts: Buyers, sellers emerging ahead of NHL Trade Deadline - Sportsnet.ca

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but according to Elliotte Friedman the Oilers have been keeping tabs on Zucc. He also mentioned that the Rangers could seek a prospect and a 2nd for him, similar to Grabner. The Oilers are willing to trade their 1st and are currently contemplating moving on from Puljujarvi.

Personally, I think Zucc is worth a 1st and a good prospect. Been the Rangers leading point getter for years and can still play that top 6 role.

Would absolutely sting if he does get moved, but thoughts?

I`m not done with Lindy Ruff since he was hired it went downhill really fast, but I will let the topic rest until end of the season, because fact is we have one of the worst defense in national hockey league at the moment.

I read the 30 player list @RangerBoy posted earlier this evening, and I don`t like to move Kreider since he was on that list just my view on it. He is often hot/cold, but his physic skills is unique in NHL which almost all teams need in this sport.

Why is that?

God actually did weigh in on this issue specifically and it is not permitted.

Always a wise ass, don’t ever change.

If Kreider wants to be a Ranger, and the team wants him here long term, I don’t see it being an impossible scenario.

Gorts can approach Kreider and tell him we’re going to continue sucking, but he’s part of the long-term core. Kreider gets 2 runs with a contender and then gets his retirement contract here next summer.

It would be interesting if the NHL replicated what FIFA has with player transfers.
