I'll echo what @Oscar Lindberg said - I don't think we're looking at a huge sell-0ff.

Kreider probably goes, I think Fast is 50/50.

I think Strome and Georgiev go in the offseason, if they go at all. A lot of that will depend on the contract of the former, and how the goalie situation shapes up for the latter.

Guys like Buch, Skjei, etc. aren't going to be shopped for picks or prospects, you're probably looking at similarly aged players --- maybe even a few years older.
How do we plan on building Georgiev’s value while rotating 3 goalies?

I don't think Gergiev's value rises or falls based on the Rangers taking a look Shesterkin. Additionally, I think Shesterkin might be a guy who goes back and forth a few times. If the Rangers want to get Georgiev and Lundqvist some action, and the AHL has some games clustered together, you'll probably see Shesterkin sent down.

But what the Rangers probably want to avoid is a scenario where they trade Georgiev, and then Lundqvist retires. I think they'd rather make due with an imperfect situation, and see how things go, than focus on getting a minimal gain on Georgiev's value and rushing into things.

Having said that, if there's a deal out there the Rangers absolutely love, and Georgiev has to be included, I think they swallow hard and pull the trigger. But I don't think that's right around the corner.

It should set off alarm bells if the front office wasn't aware of when Lundqvist would be retiring. They should be checking in on that every other game from here on out, lol.

Well, they very well might be --- I don't know.

But, in a lot of situations, a player might not totally know six months out and it's a very delicate scenario to navigate.

Yeah, that is exactly how you handle that situation.. "Hey Hank, you really sucked tonight. You ready to retire yet? Nope? Okay. Let's chat on Friday after we play Florida and see how you feel at that time."

FWIW, I'm being completely facetious. I'm sure they will have the chat before the trade deadline to see what Henrik wants.

I think the point the guy is trying to make is you don’t trade georgiev if Hanks planning on retiring so as a head office you need to have your finger on the pulse of that decision. I’m sure hank as well would let them know before they made a move like that.

The Rangers have about $15 mil to work with pre--cap rise going up--so maybe around $17 mil. They have 4 RFA's--Strome, Lemieux, DeAngelo and Georgiev. I don't see a major problem getting all them signed with $17 mil. We'd probably have $2-3 left over after re-signing all of them. Additionally we could also buy out Staal's last year which would give us about $2 mil more to work with.

I'd be interested in re-signing Strome. He has great chemistry with Panarin. I'm not into trading him at all. As long as he's with Panarin--Zibanejad can center another line and we're going to have two very dangerous lines.

I'm not convinced Georgiev is getting moved any time soon either. I guess we'll see. But there are numerous scenarios of how things might go. There may be 8-10 guys who might get traded but I don't see the Rangers trading more than 3. I think we've gone past the stage of gutting the team just to get draft picks.

Based on Gorton's history, I would be very shocked if anyone other than the UFAs are dealt on season.

I also would not be shocked to see Deangelo and Buchnevich moved in jockey trades over the summer. I can see arguments either way, but I have a hunch they will be players this summer.

Would Georgiev with Smith for AA out of Detroit and say a 4th rounder be reasonable?

Buying somewhat low on AA and offset some salary with Smith going back with 1 yr left on his deal.

Personal guesses:
Kreider gone by deadline.
Georgiev gone, depends on the offers at the deadline whether its then or after the season.

Strome resigned to a 2 year deal and Fast resigned to a 4 year deal.

If Kreider isn't traded by the deadline then they will look to resign him and move out Buch instead.

Do you really think Jesper Fast is going to get traded for almost the same deal as Gustav Nqyuist? Teams are getting stingier about what they will give up for rentals.

Say Hank decides to retire end of this season.

We keep Georgie and Igor.

What's their exposure like in the Seattle? Both eligible?

Theoretically in this scenario, Shestyorkin is exempt, so the Rangers could protect Georgiev

which means they would have to sign a goaltender that meets the requirements for exposure

in terms of a 'big sell-off', we don't have that many pieces left to sell to make it a 'big' sell-off...I also view a sell-off as trading away guys for picks and prospects. Saying we won't have a sell-off doesn't necessarily mean that guys won't get traded, it could mean that if they get dealt it will be for another NHLer...
