I think I've fully transitioned from: "DeAngelo is a luxury/contingency in case our primary RD options don't pan out" to: "DeAngelo is the most important dman in the organization"
It's Fox easily. He is thriving in the NHL at an age that DeAngelo was still struggling to establish himself.

I'm open to doing anything to the defense to make it better, but there are so few success stories of guys being right handed playing on the left long term

But maybe Tony can be an exception

McKegg and Georgiev are the only guys I’m positive we’re moving before the deadline.

Kreider Fast Strome I’m not so sure who if any definitely are moved.

I’d like to take a flyer on Ryan Murray. I don’t think he’d cost too much because of how often he’s struggled to stay in the lineup. With Werenski, Jones, Savard and now Gavrikov CBJ can afford to move him and they need help up front/in net. Murray is very good when healthy and his deal isn’t too pricey. Maybe NYR trainers and med staff could keep him healthier and even if he only plays 60 games a year, he’s the perfect partner for Trouba style wise and we have enough young guys looking for chances who can play when he’s hurt. I wonder if Buch and Georgiev could get us Murray and Jenner, or something like that.

I know most people will immediately look at injuries and say they don’t want Murray but he’s a stud when he plays. We really need to shore up the left side, can move on from him if he’s always injured but gives us a quality LHD to allow the youth to marinate longer without breaking the bank. He could probably be had cheaper than any realistic top 4 LHD due to his injury record. If we got lucky our med staff and trainers could find a way to keep him on the ice more often and if not it gives us a temporary solution while we wait on Miller and allow Hajek and Rykov to take smaller minutes and get up to speed.

I’m also very open to looking at what Tony would look like as a top six winger for a handful of games. Nothing to really lose (could even call up Keane and see what he’s got on the bottom pairing) and give Tony 5 games as Zbad’s wing. 5 games isn’t going to alter the course of the season.

What would McKegg return honestly? A 6th or 7th rounder?

Kreider is the guy I see moving no matter what.

Fast I am 50/50 on. I am surprised they haven't re-signed him if they were going to do so.

And I see Georgiev being traded.

I'm not sure I see the point in acquiring Murray who is hurt right now and only has 1 year left on his deal after which he is a UFA. What's to stop him from playing next year and just walking to UFA? For a team rebuilding this seems like a bad decision UNLESS the feeling is to acquire him for less than full value and then possibly flip him at next years deadline.

My feeling was pretty much to acquire him at less than full value, get to look at him for a year d then decide whether to extend him or flip him at the next deadline. I don’t think he’d break the bank to extend and I don’t think it would be tough to flip him if we decided to. I think he could be had relatively cheap compared to the value he should have, and we get to audition him for a year. Could be a solution, young enough to fit right in to our plans. Could just be a stop gap and a guy we flip.

Fast - you have two options. Re-sign at 3 years, $3M AAV, or trade for a 3rd round pick in 2020? Which do you choose?

I would re-sign him, but not at the expense of someone like Strome. A $1.15 million raise should be manageable for a player of Fast’s caliber, but cap is tight this offseason.

Edit: Grammar

Fast is on pace, currently, for 34 points while playing exceptional defense and primary PK time. That's easily a 2nd round return, maybe a bit more.
If Brian Boyle gets a 2nd I don't see why Fast wouldn't. With the success rates of 2nd round picks and the Rangers needing on ice talent I don't know if I want to trade Fast. He'll be a key 3rd liner and a vet for the young guys to lean on.

If the return was something like a 2nd + 4th I'd pull the trigger. All of this is based on me believing he will be looking at a 4 year x $3.5m contract which is probably fair, but slightly more than I would be comfortable with. I'd probably offer that to him as a UFA in the off-season after accruing those picks though.

there is zero chance tony is moved. zero. that pair of adam and toy can be down right scary good next year.

would love to see what kreider and fast could fetch. a team like colorado may well look at those 2 as final pieces for a legit run.

would anyone entertain kreider, fast and andersson for alex newhook ? good chance CK would repp there. would doesnt love denver ?

let gabriel tutor the dumb right out lias andersson.
I would absolute entertain that. With picks and conditional picks on either side to balance it out.

The haul that Georgiev/Kreider/Skjei/Strome/Fast/Possibly Buch could bring to this team during a final fire sale COMBINED with the certain tank which would follow would be the final piece of the rebuild, for me. You're talking NHL roster players, multiple 1sts/2nds/3rds in the upcoming and possibly next years draft AND prospects ....

It's too much not to think about from Gorts perspective, unlike anything I've ever seen. Team would be future stacked, and were the most stacked in the league coming into this season.

Holy f**k. A guy can dream.

Gorton has pretty much come out and said there won't be a major sell off this year

Kreider and Georgiev (maybe) are the ones who go. Kreider is the top candidate on a lot of outlets trade boards, generally if you're on there high up, you're gone

The Fast return should equal the Grabner return. 2nd + B Prospect.

Also, if Lindgren ends up getting a game or 2 for his hit, its the perfect time to give Rykov a look.

My thoughts exactly. This is the final re-stock. Next year we take what we have and go at this thing in earnest. Get another high pick this year plus additional prospects/younger nhlers and we can just deal from positions of strength to get what we want. There is no other team that can sell what we can right now after Hall is gone.

I'll echo what @Oscar Lindberg said - I don't think we're looking at a huge sell-0ff.

Kreider probably goes, I think Fast is 50/50.

I think Strome and Georgiev go in the offseason, if they go at all. A lot of that will depend on the contract of the former, and how the goalie situation shapes up for the latter.

Guys like Buch, Skjei, etc. aren't going to be shopped for picks or prospects, you're probably looking at similarly aged players --- maybe even a few years older.

We didn't even add in our 'b' tier prospects... We can make major, major things happen this year.

Next year, that seems to be what we have pegged here for really going balls out.

I agree, I'm just hoping it does happen as now is the time to really strike on that front, one last time.

This also doesn't rule out that the summer could be a huge time for movement as well, the draft especially. We could really make some great moves which will further set us up down the road.
