perhaps i wasnt clear. i believe he will come back next year and slowly assume the role of backup. i see a split of games next year as he eventually passes the baton.

hopefully after next season, he calls it quits and leaves with his swan song goodbye from all the teams who will honor him. it would be an emotional rollercoaster ride for sure.

he deserves a sendoff befitting royalty.
Ahh.....agreed. He will get the proper send off.

Definitely a viable scenario where Henrik signs a reasonable 1-2 year deal to be the backup when his contract is up.

I'd bet good money that he'd rather start elsewhere in the NHL or Frolunda than get paid 2 mil to be the backup here.

I could be wrong, just doesn't seem probable.

He's clearly still a middle-tier starting NHL goalie, if not longer nearly what he used to be in his prime. I could see a team offering him a 1 x 4.5 deal to start for them.

So for all the Quinn haters...if he gets fired and we get a coach who improves the defense are you ok with Hank staying?

AV has taken 2 teams to the finals and won 0 Cups, Laviolette has taken 3 teams to the finals and won 1 Cup. There’s a difference.

A banged up defense sabotaged our cup. Not one dman playing was even close to healthy, that wasnt AV's fault, even if I'm happy he is gone. Laviolette isnt the answer, to me the only person in can think of is Paul MacLean, a guy who isnt afraid to use young players and is an excellent pp, PK and defensive specialist.

That cup was such an anomaly
You can downplay it however you want, but taking 3 different organizations to the finals is pretty damn impressive. Especially given all 3 teams weren’t powerhouses either, if I recall correctly.

A banged up defense in 2015 cost us the conference finals versus Tampa. AV and bad officiating cost us the cup in 2014. How many 3rd period leads did we blow against LA because AV turtled? He also choked big time in 2011 vs Boston.

Nah we were outed in the first round vs. the Caps in '11; we got demolished by the Bruins in the second round in '13.

But agreed on everything else--we just did not have the luck in '14 and '15 that team that win the cup get...

EDIT: I see you mention AV against Boston in '11; very true (and I was living in RI and rooting hard for the B's to lose...)

Yeah lol I was just about to reply and say I meant Vancouver in 2011.

I dont understand this. I dont think one has to do with the other. Its going to be Igor’s team soon. Hank will be the 1B. His contract will expire and things will go from there.

Since December 1st, Julien Gauthier has 9 goals and 13 points in 10 games with 30 SOG in that span for the Checkers. Still really keen on him as a target.

He is a beast...are you thinking straight up for Kreider?

nothing seemed to go our way in the 2014 finals. We seemed to be on the crappy end on calls and bad puck luck while LA literally benefitted from every bounce lol.

Sure. But if the offers to start aren't there and he wants to stay in the NHL, no reason to not stay.

Did you really expect us to compete this year??

I think that's the biggest issue

This team is 2 years (after this one) away from competing

I agree except I think they need 1 more after this

All the hank , smith, Staal contracts are done and they will run kids like Miller , Lundqvist , Barron ....all in the AHL Atleast

Year 4 for guys like Howden , Chytil ... Fox will get better ... Kravtsov up
