Is any of our goalies top 20 in the league? That is definitely debate-able. And I think a young team just assembled probably is required to get top 10 goaltending to go anywhere.

Remember that there is only 31 starters in this league. A 20th ‘ranked’ center is great, a 20th ranked goalie is below average.

JMHO, I am not an expert on goalies.

one of the problems with the Rangers is they have given up the 4th most shots against with 2/3 games in hand. Based on their run rate, they would rank second most to only Chicago at even games played.

of course not. Like Eli Manning, some can’t let go.

I dont think the comparison with Manning is fair. Manning was totally shot mentally and physically. Hank is still performing on a high level and is definetly a top 10 goalie in the NHL. Is he the future of this team, absolutely not, but dont kid yourself, the old man is having a great season if you care to dive into the stats.

Ryan Miller is doing it a star goalie now 39 signing deals as a back up so wouldn’t shock me if he felt he could still play but hank already has in as politely a way as possible insinuates how much he dislikes not being able to get into a rhythm and also told Vince yesterday he doesn’t really see himself in a mentor role so it may be next year and that’s it. We’ll know next year I guess. I like Adam Huska a lot he can play. Big goalie makes the saves he’s supposed to make. I think he can be an nhl back up and a good one. And then you have Wall hopefully there as well.

Not to get off topic, but I don't understand the reference to Eli. To my knowledge, he's been nothing but a gentleman throughout....did I miss something? did he refuse a trade or fight being benched?

I believe he's referring more to the fans than the player.

im hoping hank just retires and doesnt pull a brodeur and over stay his talent and in turn sully his memory.

retire a NYR and turn the page. go on to the next phase of your life. the guy has wealth, his health, good looks, a family and the personality and flair to carve out a new career.

the time is near. its now PRINCE IGOR time to rule.

0% chance he retires.

the fans can’t let go. Hence, resign him.

the response is to resigning Hank.

Oh look who is back to start it up again.

Its not about not letting go. If Hank doesn’t re-sign to be a backup so be it. I know its hard for a simpleton like you to understand the optics of it. Or even have a discussion about it. You are in that small minority here that believe your opinions are the only path moving forward.

Not surprised to see your useless contribution added as per usual.

all emotion. I get you love the players and won’t part ways with any of them yet you have to turn he page due to the cap and age. They aren’t reigning Hank and Kreider is gone. Although you might not have gotten over Zucs or Stepan yet.

it’s a rebuild.

Hank is perfect for the NY Media. Once he retires he should grab a job with the Rangers, like an Analyst or something. He did so much for the Rangers. As much as I want to see a Shesty/Geo 1,2 combo, im OK with Hank for another season. He gets a pass. He earned it.

I’m a bit disappointed in how hot cold georgiev has run this year. I expected him to really grab the brass ring with the opportunity and while he’s had some amazing games and generally has played well, he has had games in spots where he could send a message that he’s the man, that have been absolutely ridiculous. I mean never give your team a chance to even be in the game ridiculous. So the upside has come down a bit for me. I think he’s a high end back up or at best Raanta who also lost his starters job. But I’m not going to lose sleep over trading that caliber of a goalie.

make no mistake id be much happier if hank retired and we had the two kids and 8.5 mil in cap space this summer but I’m more than fine at this juncture trading Georgiev and running Shesterkin and Lundqvist next year.

its igors time and i dont think georgie is the guy to prevent that from happening.

im 100% behind a tandem of the king and the prince next season.

sell georgie to the highest bidder and move forward.

I could see NBC wanting him in a bad way for their analyst desk. He might want to go back to Sweden as well.

While I am sure that is the hope of most and even some members of Rangers management, there is no chance that he does not come back next year.

If Georgie goes it sucks but I kinda get it...........need a good young F back through.........Detroit on paper is a good fit for him so what can they offer?

Shesty, Hank next year...........then Wall, Huska,Lindholm in the pipeline

I can see Hank being resigned for 2 years to play 1B with Shesty. By the second year he’ll be the clear backup and then call it quits after that deal. It’s not all sentimentality. If he takes backup money and just a couple of years he’d still be a good backup. Shesty gets hurt or struggles a bit and Hank will be solid enough. Wouldn’t give him term or big money though.

perhaps i wasnt clear. i believe he will come back next year and slowly assume the role of backup. i see a split of games next year as he eventually passes the baton.

hopefully after next season, he calls it quits and leaves with his swan song goodbye from all the teams who will honor him. it would be an emotional rollercoaster ride for sure.

he deserves a sendoff befitting royalty.

No this cant be a possible outcome! No way! That means you are too emotional and can’t let go. Forget logic or how it could positively affect Igor having him around! Forget that his numbers have been good this year despite the horrible defense in front of him. Forget it that he may even be quite good as a backup with a significantly reduced workload. Forget all that. You dont know better. Too emotional and cant let go. Get that discussion out of here.
