The Strome/Panarin "dynamic" might be enough for the Rangers to re-sign Strome to a two year deal let's say 4.5M/Per

Tony D is going to command a huge raise. If they want term, it's going to cost them 6M/season IMHO

Fast is a guy that's criminally underrated by this fanbase but I don't see the Rangers trading him at the deadline. 4 x 3.5M?

Lemieux? Another 2 year deal - 2.75-3M/yr

Georgiev needs to go at the deadline if Lundqvist is sticking around next year.

Kreider needs to go because we can't afford him if we're keeping the above

There's also 7 RFA's at the Wolfpack that decisions need to be made on.

15 million is not enough to sign Strome, DeAngelo, Lemieux, Fast 10-12 other contracts that we're going to need with Haley, McKegg, and Fogarty becoming UFA's.

Something else has to give besides Kreider and Georgiev and even Fast being traded. There's not enough cap space.

Smith has a base salary of 2,35 mill next season plus 1 mill bonus. With a modified NTC he can most likely be moved with a pick or a player. Thats 4,35 mill (minus 750k for a league minimum player) you should be able to add to the cap space. And Staal can be bought out which adds another 2 mill. in cap space.

Eat half the salary, send Staal to Toronto for whatever. They need someone with Muzzin out and with them only having one dman signed next year they might want a vet guy like Staal at half price. I dunno

Bracco would fit in with our timeline, I'd be interested but wouldnt sell the farm for him

Never seen Bracco play. But Leafs fans seem to think that he cant be used in the bottom six. And they have no place for him in the top six. Will there be room for him in Rangers top six?

I was looking at a list the other day of nyr ranger tenures. Don’t look now but guys like Callahan and Dubinsky only ended up playing 3-4 seasons here.

Jesper fasth has been a ranger longer. So has kreider.

In order of length of tenure for like the 15 years.

Hank
Staal
Girardi
Kreider
Fast
And so on

In the last 15 years only 3 players have played more seasons with the rangers than Kreider and I’m sure if you keep going back leetch, richter and maybe graves have given longer tenures than Kreider in the last 30 years.
Nice for #19OA or whatever he was

Depends on who stays and who goes I guess but I don't see us having the old school bottom 6 anyway, more like a top 9 and bottom 3. He is the type of player that could end up as a steal for us. We are fairly weak on the right side.

I apologize, your right, I was looking at actual games played, and just looking at their career numbers again right now, I must of been looking at games played by rangers this decade. So I apologize for the mistake.

Callahan at about 400 games played
Dubi at 387

So about 5 full seasons worth.

Fast is at 390 gp
Kreider 398gp

G was about 790 gp
Staal at 862 gp
Hank at 879 gp

Graves was 772 gp
Leetch 1192 gp
Richter 666 gp
Mess was 698

Rozsival played 432 pg (the forgotten nice ranger career)

My biggest issue with Trouba is his contract. It's not a good look when trying to sign our own guys to a 'friendly' deal when a 'stranger' got slightly overpaid.
I haven’t been able to watch as many games this season but is Trouba overpaid? Seems like a fair market deal for a player that can be a “1B” or “2A” type defenseman. Certainly going to be a cornerstone of the D for a long time.

He's a nice player, especially when he gets nasty... but 8.5ish% would have been more acceptable in my eyes, essentially $1M difference

He could mold into a top 'shutdown' d-man for us but with Fox and ADA, his point totals will not be that high. Arguably top2 but more comfortably labeled, a top4D 40pt player.

We need a LHS... That might be Kravtsov and/or Kakko eventually... but a nice 1-timer from the right wall would be amazing.

From what I've gathered, Kravtsov is ahead of Kakko in this department.

I’d like to look at Julien Gauthier from Carolina. I’d also take a shot on Klim Kostin from STL. He plays physical enough that he can spend some time in the bottom six and I think he can become a middle/top six winger. Gauthier would be an incredible Kreider replacement.

Trouba doesn’t have to be a top shutdown defenseman or a top offensive producer. He’s a solid #2 caliber guy (which is still top pairing) who has all the tools. Find him a competent top pair level partner (doesn’t have to be a true #1 either, another #2 type would be great) and he’ll look fantastic. Put him next to a pure defensive beast and he’ll show more offense. Put him with an offensive stud and he’ll fall into the supporting defensive role. Right now he’s doing everything and is essentially THE guy on a young and shallow blue line. He’s gonna be a good Ranger.

Can't they structure it where ADA gets 2 years, a few bucks next year but most of it in year 2 then he can cash in again when the TV deal hits?

No that's the type of shit that the devils did with kolvachuk with his deal. The NHL has stopped that by making the team that counts against the cap being average annual salary.

Before his stint with the Rangers he was essentially shipped off for scraps. He’s been good with the Rangers but he was awful in Edmonton.
Strome planned it that way. He stunk it up in Edmonton, because he knew the Rangers would trade him for Spooner. Now he will be a rich New Yorker.:)

I'd absolutely love to get this kid, was a fan of his during the 2017 draft. How do the Blues view him? Is he a blue chip prospect who will eventually replace a Schwartz down the line for cap reasons, or is he going to be shipped out for them to get another crack?

He should ask for that.

Hes never gonna get it from the NYR or anyone else.

The body of work doesn't support it.

The inconsistency in his career wont allow for 6 per let alone 7.

But sure, he can ask for it.

He's also an RFA not a UFA... He doesn't have a ton of leverage.
