Lettieri is getting into PA Parenteau territory here. What's it going to take to get his offense to translate? This NYR team relies less on skating than under AV, so in theory it should be less of a problem for him.
He's a volume shooter. When he's on the ice, the Rangers never have the puck. Hard to be a volume shooter when you don't have the puck.

He has to improve his all-around game. He's got talent but he's not good enough to light the lamp touching the puck once like Kane or Laine.

One thing about Panarin. He had a perfect environment in Chicago.

I think CBJ has the most underrated roster. They always suck and just keep adding and adding and don’t develop well. But it’s obvious that Jarmo and Torts has agreed that they need someone like Panarin and that he should be let to play to his strength. Panarin is in other words supported very well in CBJ too.

I think Panarin is a really good player, but I would also be very hesitant to put him in one of the greats in the game right now cathegory.

McLeod had nothing to do with Lettieri being completely invisible.

This is his chance to show whether or not he can play in the NHL or if he is nothing but a 4A player. This is probably his last chance. At least with the Rangers.
His last chance? Why would you say that?

Throw the offer sheet at nylander now, 5 years 8 mill. Toronto will crap themselves.

Actually, Toronto would have a week to decide if they match and since the date the offer sheet was signed by the player is leading, Nylander could still play for Toronto this season in this scenario

Yes but they would have him at 8 mill...then have to sign marner and Matthew's.

The problem for Toronto is it's not a value contract that would return a cheap defenseman, it ends at his UFA season and it squeezes their cap crunch with Marner and Mathews adding around $20m next season.

If this was the Hirscher/Patrick draft, I would have spammed this strategy to death. This draft gives me pause, and with our warts showing again, it could be an expensive 1st.

Carolina should have done this. Colorado should. Teams that are in direct competition with Toronto, with cap space, should be using the CBA to make life hell. No contender should just let Toronto compile a team like this.

I'm wondering about Buchnevich. Quinn shows more patience with him. But will he be the 20-25G, 50-point guy we hope for and is it worth his downside?

Being silly about contracts runs in the Nylander family, evidently.

On this current Rangers roster, feel free to take anyone besides Chytl, Andersson, Howden, Zibanejad, and Kreider for Nylander. Take Hayes, Zucc, Buch, Skjei, Pionk, ADA (it is what it is) and the like. Everything else is up for grabs. In the end, Toronto realizes that we are not a fit as their potential trading partner.

I can't wait until 5 PM so I don't have to hear about Nylander anymore.

I doubt it's the end of the saga regardless. If he sits out there will be talk all year about trading his rights to a team that doesn't care if he plays this year. If he signs a bridge deal, it will be non-stop speculation about whether or not he gets traded before the deal is up.

It's the Trouba situation all over again.

Sherbak is a really skilled player. Loved him in his draft year. I think he's a bit disappointed that he didn't crack the roster out of camp after having a big year last year. Worth a shot to see if he's just sulking and needs a change.

It seems he has a little bit of the JT Miller syndrome of making the occasional boneheaded play. Still, this is the time to take fliers on guys with potential.
