I swear if we trade anyone younger than 25/26 for a 33 year old on a 8 year contract I'm done

Nah, it's like Worchestershire sauce. Very english, but it's ok in small amounts (like the English...). I prefer tomato sauceTaste like? Vegemite?
Honest question, are you more of a Mika fan or a Ranger fan? If Mika left would you root for his new team more or would you stay with the Rangers? You can try all you want. Mika says no. End of story.
he’s still made of glassAny update on Chytil?
I have Lea & Perrins in the cupboard. Comparable?Nah, it's like Worchestershire sauce. Very english, but it's ok in small amounts (like the English...). I prefer tomato sauce
Let me be clear.we can surely all agree that, internally, the Way Forward lies somewhere on the axis of:
Full Rebuild - tank, move expensive and older talents, acquire youth and draft picks, weaponize cap space
...
Retool/Reload - making necessary changes
...
Win Now - damn the torpedoes, trade all young/draft assets
many of us would like to see a full rebuild, thinking that the current core is categorically incapable of winning a Cup, and thinking that for at least this moment, our youngest pieces could contribute to a new team. However, despite what we may believe, this team won the PT last year and was 2 games from the Final, as in 3 years ago. Dolan will not allow a tear down. The mandate is to win. He calls the shots. Y'all have to see this.
Many others are hoping for a re-tool, getting younger, hockey trades, building around certain elements. Trying to change the culture is a big part of this "plan." Fixing the D, etc, similar to what Washington has achieved.
Unfortunately, it's now clear that this type of approach is not feasible. At the risk of seeming like I'm basing this conclusion on one games worth of evidence, it comes down to a really simple thing: Chytil. Without him, the "build around" talent on this team looks entirely different. There's an overpaid 2C with a NMC, and a character 3C, who is essential to team culture, both turning 32 this year. There's no center depth in the system. Regardless of what you think of Drurys decision making, even he must see that you can't build around something that's not there. You win with centers, and the Rangers just flat out don't have em. Noah Laba is the closest thing. Nice little player. Not the answer.
So you can't rebuild with this ownership, and you can't retool without Chytil. where does that leave you? one place.
Win now. The mandate is there, the pieces are here. They're gonna go for it and try to win this year and next. 1sts for Rentals, trading youth for Playoff Size and Grit (already started with Kakko), and spending to the cap limit. It's pretty much guaranteed.
do not wantSprong on waivers from Seattle. Kakko survives this round. Honestly could see the rangers claiming this guy too.
Mostly (I am certainly no expert here). HP is thicker and sweeterI have Lea & Perrins in the cupboard. Comparable?
You love talking sauce, so indulging you haha. That said, I'll look to import some of this HP sauce.Mostly (I am certainly no expert here). HP is thicker and sweeter
Kaliyev is part of the foundation already?
I thought it was a large blob of hair gel ?King and Queen 1-timers!
Because he’s still a top player who plays with balls.
Slipped on a bar of soap in the locker room during intermission.
All season? He's been a problem in all his stops even before the Rangers....It has been very obvious that Housley has been the problem all season.
This is not how it works. Management does not need to check in with the player on everything they are working on (that involved said player). Most of the talks never materialize so talking to players beforehand is at very least unnecessary to counterproductive.Nobody has approached him about waiving, He himself is not going to waive. He is not even thinking about it because his NMC is something he feels he have earned.
So either Mika is lying or Pagnotta is.
Rangers have more than one issue to deal with. The one Drury started addressing is overpaid player not playing up to their contracts. I disagree with the country club sentiment but it's clear that in trying to address the first issue Drury faced the locker room insubordination or mutiny or whatever you want to call it. And this derailed the part 2 of the original issue - substituting overpaid players with those better suited for the role (specifically LD1).That's interesting, because right now it seems like he just wants to jettison overpaid players. Goodrow and Trouba might suck now, but they weren't "country club" players. Seems to me if Drury was trying to get that vibe out of the locker room then he should've traded Mika Z before he resigned him to that long-term deal in 2021.
There have been a lot of them over the past decade or so, but I can’t remember the last assistant coach this team has had that was borderline detrimental like Housley’s been.
Mike Sullivan and Scott Arniel come to mind but I’m sure there are some stinkers in between that I’m forgetting.
I'm even deleting the second part about Laf and Scheider because it's just fans projecting their mental state lolIF, and that's a big if, Zibanejad is going the other way (with something added of course), I'm willing to try it out. JT Miller won't age that much better, but it's a different look.
