Yes, it’s almost a guarantee he’s playing tomorrow against NJ

Because the team needs Rempe the enforcer to keep the Devils in check. As NJ picks the team apart and puts up a 5 piece on the Rangers

But Rempe will be on the ice to keep them in check whilst they do it
Even if he doesn't work out long term, id love to see Kaliyev become a Devil killer.

Even if its one or two games lol

I'd take a chance on Sprong. Why not. The guy put up 43 points in 76 games last year. That's nothing to sneeze at. He's the new Erik Christensen in the way he plays. All skill, doesn't add much else. But if he plays with skill players, he can score 40 points

your comparison to other teams only makes sense at the most superficial level:

good one year
bad the next
???
profit

as i specifically pointed out, the issue under any sort of scrutiny is that there is no Center anywhere in their prime or entering it, let alone a top 6 C, f***ing let alone a top-15 1C.

there's no dynasty without that piece. the rangers cannot get that piece, ESPECIALLY not on a timeline that matches the rest of their "build around" players. teams don't trade that piece. Miller isn't getting it, Panarin isn't getting it. You're not getting it. There's no "start fresh and build a dynasty." there's only "welp these are the dudes we have, so let's run it back"

edit: by the way, JT Miller isn't a retool move. it's a win now move. it's perreault+

Im not trading Perreault for JT. Vancouver wants RD and C. Its prob not happening unless Miller demands to be traded here but there's your top 15 center. Your best bet on a young C is prob a guy like Cozens, but again thats gonna cost you Schneider probably.

All of the Rangers D have regressed. None of them have gotten better in the last 2 seasons. Miller and Schneider were better under Gord Murphy.

Larry Robinson could make Ryan Lindgren look like Scott Stevens.

Staple said on X Q&A that Laviolette is safe for next season. Hire another assistant coach to run the D.

Larry…drinking before 10am is a bad look. Even for a reporter who covers the Rangers.
Though I get it. I get it.

That's interesting, because right now it seems like he just wants to jettison overpaid players. Goodrow and Trouba might suck now, but they weren't "country club" players. Seems to me if Drury was trying to get that vibe out of the locker room then he should've traded Mika Z before he resigned him to that long-term deal in 2021.
You are entitled to your opinions, but as I said, their "intangibles" didn't change the country club atmosphere. At their AAV's what use are they then? They certainly weren't living up to their contracts and they weren't doing a whole lot of leading. And I don't know how much you know about Trouba but there were a lot of questions about distractions with his "art career" and prioritizing of his wife's medical career. There's a reason guys like Vinnie Trocheck and Lafrenierre aren't players Drury is looking to move...
"Jettisoning overpaid, underperforming players" is what a GM SHOULD be doing, no?

100%, but that's not what you said Drury was doing in your last post.

When the boozing gets bad enough sometimes you wake up still drunk.

But this has been a hard season on everyone. Even Larry, who does get outwardly frustrated when he sees NYR doing objectively poorly.

It’s in Staples mind. Seen or heard nothing from anyone credible that they’re even considering it.

There was something that came out yesterday that the Rangers shot down including Schneider in a deal to Vancouver from EF who had actual street cred.
There's a famous line from The Devils Advocate: "So now we're negotiating"... It's important in this context that Vancouver shot down one-for-one but then asked for Schneider. One-for-one was the Rangers low-balling Nucks while adding Scheider was an outsized asked by them. (I think both parties understand that Zibanejad's current form is something that he can recover from to a large extent, maybe not during the season but after recommitting himself to offseason training?)

Can they find a middle ground?

We're short centers right now, wingers you can only find so much time on ice for.

I'm a little surprised not to see Brod in that 3C spot. Even though I think Carrick is a serviceable 4C (Better than Rooney and McKegg, anyways) I don't think we want that 4th line taking over any additonal minutes, meaning the 3rd line will have to stay a regular rotation of 13-14 ES minutes. I hadn't heard that Kaliyev was the kind of guy who could anchor that.

Berard and Cuylle barely play. We do this with every forward prospect and then wonder what happened.

And yeah, Berard sucked ass last night. I literally don't care. That's just game to game variance. He should be playing.
I'm confused why this is even a topic - if Chytil is out with an injury - there's automatically a lineup spot for Kaliev.

If you read carefully I'm not saying I know the reason - Just asking pointing questions. I literally came here to find out from those who watch the team all the time what is the reason for this collapse, and to this point the only somewhat suggested answers given are that the team was never that good and Goodrow/Trouba were bad/terrible and should've been let go. And on top of that there seems to be no consensus if Drury has a plan and/or is doing a good job.

So again...I don't know more than anyone here, but is the answers for the rangers terrible play that...There are no answers yet?
These are just my opinions:

Mika came into season out of shape. He comes to the rink to have fun, thus does not have that killer instinct. He’s starting to get it together, but he needs to have better workout practices.

Because Mika had a rough start, Kreider has no assists. Still scoring some goals, but I believe his back has bothered him for a couple seasons, and got worse this year.

Because of his worsening back, Kreider does not setup in front of net for screens, thus Fox has fewer goals. He also has fewer power play goals.

I think the Rangers are a timid team. They like having guys on the ice/bench that are willing to fight so they don’t have to. That’s why they don’t play as well without Goodrow and Trouba. That’s why they have a good record with Rempe.

Tomorrow vs NJD I'd like to see

Panarin - Trocheck - Lafreniere
Kaliyev - Zibanejad - Smith
Cuylle - Brodzinski - Berard
Edstrom - Carrick - Rempe

Miller - Fox
Lindgren - Schneider
Vaakanainen - Borgen
Yup, there's really no mystery to it now that Chytil is out too with Kreider. The only possible variance could be a flip between Cuylle and Kaliev.

P.S. just got to posts with lineup tweets. So it does seem they're switching Cuylle and Kaliev. Makes sense.

The Rangers want to remake their team and the locker room. How is JT Miller at 32 years old that guy?

If JT Miller at 32 years old is a replacement for Chris Kreider at 34 years old, or Artemi Panarin at 33 years old, or Mika Zibanejad at 32 years old, then yes.

Otherwise, you're right- it doesn't help.

100%, but that's not what you said Drury was doing in your last post.
All I said previously about what Drury "was doing" was that he had a "type" as far as players he was drafting and trying to acquire goes, and they weren't of the country club mindset.
In the last post I merely addressed you saying Drury was jettisoning overpaid players, as if that wasn't obvious. Of COURSE he's jettisoning overpaid underperforming players... every GM should be attempting to do that. That is not a negative.
If you are asking me to outline Drury's detailed plan, you're out of luck. The guy doesn't much address fans/media. But really what GM outlines his strategy publicly? Other than saying they want to build a winning team and bring home the Cup? I don't know what you're looking for, though you seem for me to want to blame everything on Drury, but I've got nothing more to offer you.

IF, and that's a big if, Zibanejad is going the other way (with something added of course), I'm willing to try it out. JT Miller won't age that much better, but it's a different look.

If it's JT Miller for Laf and Schneider, that would be hilariously awful.
