Starting on the road in round one for the first time in the McDavid era would be hilarious. Might as well just miss it altogether at that point.LA is now 2 points back with 3 games in hand… are we really about to go from Division Lead to 3rd in division this quickly?
That’s what it looked more like to me too. It was probably Tkachuk who came running from the press box just to chirp from behind the glass.Almost looked he was fake lunging at a fan who made a disparaging remark? Dunno.
Katz, Schwartz are the problem. Not once do I see you say Skinner is the problemKatz deserves misery for running a country club. Absolute loser.
Stu Skinner was def better. Had some bad bounces. On what planet was Skinner better???
There isn't fans on the ice. Drai turns his head right around to the ice, where Skins is trailing him. In real time I just thought he was expressing frustration leaving ice. Several posters here independently of conclusion it was directed at Skinner. Seemed like it watching replays. Watch the Skinner postgame and you'd be swearing at him too. heheThat’s what it looked more like to me too. Or apparently capable eitherStu Skinner was def better. Had some bad bounces.
FYI better doesn't mean elite.
Skinner is a byproduct of organizational incompetence. If you think simply swapping Skinner out is going to magically make everything better you're out of your mind.Katz, Schwartz are the problem. Not once do I see you say Skinner is the problem
Rodrigue is not even close to ready. Would get absolutely decimated at the NHL level.Call up Rodrigue and have a look. Send down Skinner for all I care. Baby brain has turned his game even further down the drain.
Wow Klingberg was bad? Who f***ing knew. Not Stan the Trash Man BowMan, that's for sure.Take a look at the bottom half of this chart- particularly, our bottom 6 and Klingberg. The Henrique line was brutal (again) and Klingberg managed to neutralize the Mcdavid line and Kulak almost all by himself.
The deadline is not the time for shaking up the roster but everything is needed. They look just like they did the first 6 weeks of Woodcroft last year. I guess it’s better to slump now than going into the playoffs but they need a goalie to make saves.Outhit... outworked... outgoaltended (and Bob in net for the Panthers wasn't even good this game).
They were perfect on the PK which is huge as that needs to be better so that's a positive... but pretty much every other are they were still subpar.
The team's record against good teams is very poor and that will hurt them in the playoffs.
I don't know what the solution is but hopefully Kane back plus deadline additions give this team some vigor against good teams because without that it does not look good for a long playoff run.

Nobody is that stupidI could see the org thinking we need to rush Kane back now, like some evander attitude in the dressing room could save the day.
You don’t think an above average goalie will fix this problem? It’ll at least help fix the goalie situationSkinner is a byproduct of organizational incompetence. If you think simply swapping Skinner out is going to magically make everything better you're out of your mind.
Just FYI, Schwartz scouted Jack Campbell. Ken Holland signed Jack Campbell. Jack Campbell played himself out of the league before the first year of his contract even ended. And because of that terrible signing... well, you know the rest of the story.
Can you blame Ekholm? He played with good goalies his entire NHL career before coming to the Oilers. He knows exactly what a good goalie looks likeThe deadline is not the time for shaking up the roster but everything is needed. They look just like they did the first 6 weeks of Woodcroft last year. Did you see Ekholm’s face when they scored on the goal that got called back? He sat there in what looked like disbelief. My own Skinner bias was because he couldn’t believe a) he didn’t read that and b) he moved so damn slow, I could have baked a cake before he reacted to it.
Klingberg was always a hot mess defensively...since foreverTake a look at the bottom half of this chart- particularly, our bottom 6 and Klingberg. The Henrique line was brutal (again) and Klingberg managed to neutralize the Mcdavid line and Kulak almost all by himself.
The Oilers have struggled with goaltending for so, so long. Fuhr was the last goalie this team successfully drafted and developed. That was forty years ago.You don’t think an above average goalie will fix this problem? It’ll at least help fix the goalie situation

What does Fuhr got to do with this? If the Oilers can’t draft and develop, trade for a goalie that is good already. Just like a Dman, can’t draft and develop one, go out and get Ekholm which we didThe Oilers have struggled with goaltending for so, so long.
