Honestly I don't have a great feel for how good Nurse is/how he's viewed but he's a big LD who skates well etc and would probably solidify that left side quite a bit and those guys are sometimes overvalued. That said you can't ignore DeAngelo's points, and is Nurse just kind of Skjei 2.0?

I think he's better than Skjei. But I also think there are some real bone-headed plays with him and he can be a lot of things, at different times, but not always a player who is all those things at the same time.

Does that make sense?

I wonder if the team would take a shot on Kylington, he's kinda in that space between where he's too good for the AHL, but Calgary has LD depth where he isn't getting consistent minutes in the NHL

I remember one of our insiders saying they thought Kylington was part of the proposed package for a potential Hayes trade at the deadline

This was who I wanted the Rangers to take with the pick they used on Gropp (ugh). That said, I don't think he helps much. We really need defenseman who are good in their own zone. Kylington is still a work in progress defensively.

Really wondering if there is a deal to be had with Vegas. They have really bad cap issues. Would try to get Stastny and Martinez out of there. DeAngelo and 2020 Carolina 1st to headline a deal.

That seems like truly terrible value for ADA. Are we getting Glass and/or Krebs back too?

How about.... let Strome walk or trade for futures.

Then:

Buch (3.25)
ADA (presumed 5.0+)
Carolina pick
D prospect (Jones?)

for

Glass (900k)
Krebs (minors)
Stastny (6.5)
Martinez (4.0)

Saves Vegas money, gives them a top RHD. We buy out Staal or Smith or both if we have to. Stastny and Martinez come off the books next year.

Posted this in another thread. But seriously, if this doesn't make you daydream and smile, you need to find another team.

Then that's a deal that makes sense. Then you could move Strome to RW for the short term, until the Rangers view Kravtsov as being ready.

And again, with Lindholm, this is me speculating.

To me, if you're going to spend a lot on a center to play behind Zibanejad, including trading Buch or some of the other assets we've mentioned, this is the type of guy you target.

I was also thinking the other day...
if the Rangers stay put and are really smart with cap space, and the prospects work out to form an amazing core..... there's a universe where the Rangers sign Malkin in 2 years to a 1 year deal to help bring in a cup.

Seems like a bad idea to trade ADA for 2 rentals and Martinez isn't even good.
Martínez is very solid. Good stopgap while Miller learns the job. Also gets another cup winner in the locker room. That’s valuable. Also free money off the cap Summer 2021

Looks good but that #22 is cursed for us.

Time to reverse some long-standing issues:

Drafting first overall.
Taking a player from the Q in the first round
Home-grown superstars
Championship droughts
The number 22 (which I love)

I picked 22 because he's worn it internationally and 11 is out of the question.

I also think 91 would look sharp.

If the deal was ADA for Nurse + 14th I would 100% take it. They'd be getting a very different type of d-man in Nurse but he's almost exactly what they need on the left side.

Especially if the deal can be made on the clock and Lundell is there.

Didn't he wear 10 or 12 at one point?

You're asking for a definitvie answer to one I cant give you. That does not mean it is not possible. My #1 target would be Cirelli and move down from there. If hes not available or will cost too much, on to the next. You even listed centers... Bonino or Bozak fit the bill. You even said it yourself, we need PK help. We need to win faceoffs.... things that make it tougher to play against us...

My definition of tough to play against does not = NHL Goon. Jesper Fast is the good example of 'TTPA'. Battle for the puck. Forecheck. Backcheck. Do all the things that are necessary to win. That's a mindset/attitude. You either have it or you dont. You can pretend to have it for a handful of games ( USA Buch ) but you will come back to the norm eventually... ( Regular Buch )

To simplify it... Are we capable of playing Playoff Hockey. When Torts' was here we were way too far in 1 direction. Now, we're way too far in the opposite direction. We need to approach the Goldilocks zone somewhere in the center.

It's probably easy do make trades from this direction to make that happen though. Getting skilled players are harder to get than those go get em' intangibles players. What would be nice is we can package some players for a player who is more in the middle. Sandpaper, hard forecheck but with a bit of skill too so that they can be inserted to play with a Panarin, a Zibanejad, or a Lafreniere and not only hunt down pucks for them but also be able to make plays with them. Fast is a great example of that.

Lafreniere is supposedly that type of player too, which is great. A player that is just annoying as hell to play against because he'll go toe-to-toe with you along the boards to win that puck. We really lucked out. He's the super star version of precisely what this team needs.

So a rough* depth chart looks something likes this?

Panarin - Zibanejad - Kakko
Lafreniere - Chytil - Kreider
Kravtsov - Strome - Buchnevich
Lemieux - Anderson - Fast

Howden, Pajuniemi, Henriksson, Barron, Gisueppe

Fox - Trouba
DeAngelo - Lindgren
Lundkvist - Miller

Robertson, Raddysh, Hajek

Shesterkin
Georgiev

X: Carolina's/Toronto's 1st

*I know some positions are off and I'm sure I've forgotten some obvious prospect. I'm a non-Rangers fan just wanting to make a post out of envy.

I am fairly certain our Carolina pick will be, if Carolina loses against Boston, calculated giving the following result:

It can be no higher than 17th.

Then it will drop 1 spot for each of the following teams not winning their PO series:
NYI
Vancouver
CBJ
Arizona
Chicago
MTL

Carolina has a higher winning % than both Dallas and Calgary, so whomever loses that series should at least pick before Carolina, right? But the above 6 teams all fave teams with higher winning % than Carolina that should slide in behind Carolina should they also lose, right?

So 17 to 23??
