The UFAs are different. I’ve heard numerous posters at this play express qualms about dealing Shatty, but never in regards to a homegrown player. Many still think it’s good to keep Smith around.

I think it’s quite common to yearn for players on other teams that seem to do well and have no flaws, then that positive feeling about that player spills over to when we sign them as UFAs with all the attention that gets etc.

I think Gorts would face a lot of criticism if he dealt Shatty, maybe not from the posters at this place but the average fan.

No, people said UFAs aren't dealt away 1 year into a multi year deal. Maybe some talked about turning off future signings with such a trade. But no one made it about some strange loyalty to free agents. And the big talk this off seasons has been trading those UFAs, so I don't really see how your claim has any basis.

I think Andersson and Roslovic are closer to value than Pionk and Roslovic. Most of this board has written off Pionk as a long term option. Roslovic is still thought of as a solid future middle C by Jets fans.

I personally don't think Pionk is half of what would be needed to acquire Roslovic. If Gorton makes that happen, I’ll be dancing.
