Aaron Portzline, a Columbus Blue Jackets reporter, for The Athletic just reported that Winnipeg Jets forward Jack Roslovic fired his agent Ken Robinson. The player had requested a trade several times last year. Lack of playing time. Wasn't happy in his role.

His new agent is Claude Lemieux. Claude is the father of Rangers wing Brendan who also came from Winnipeg last year. Jim Gorton has a relationship with Kevin Cheveldayoff from their deadline trade last year. Kevin Hayes. Brendan Lemieux. 1st round pick.

How did Kevin Hayes work out for Winnipeg? Good luck in Philly. Hope he likes cheesesteaks.

Would Gorton try to swindle Cheveldayoff a second time in a year? Cheveldayoff is notoriously difficult to trade with. Stingy. Conservative. Risk-averse. He does not give in to his employees demands.

How long has Jacob Troubda wanted out? Cheveldayoff has kept him there against his wishes for years. Troubda is going to be a Group 3 UFA at the end of this year if he doesn't sign long term. He may finally get his wish. They will need someone to replace him on the top pairing.

Neal Pionk played on the top pairing much of the year under David Quinn, a developmental coach.

Trouba’s upcoming value (for winnipeg) has always been dependent on how many teams he’d be willing to sign long term with. If it’s 1-3 teams and 2 of those teams aren’t interested in trading, winnipeg is screwed. If they are 5-7 teams he’d consider, winnipeg has an auction.

If that’s the deal. I much prefer the rangers go route of trading for a defensemen with 1RD potential who has a couple more years left at a reasonable price. As opposed to paying a boat haul for trouba and then paying him primo bucks.

There are going to be several teams interested but until a deal is put in front of him, you don’t know where he will sign a new contract. You have to negotiate the deal with Winnipeg first and then talk to the player. It would be very unusual to get permission from the team to talk until they were satisfied with an offer.

1RD defensemen are not generally available unless you want to gamble with EK65 (and I don’t recommend that)
