was never a fan of his. that no helmet thing kinda rubbed me the wrong way. like if everyone had to wear a helmet why didn't he? i forgot that reason behind it tbh.

The helmet rule was implemented in 1979, same way the visor was. A grandfather rule. So active players could choose. MacTavish played in the league already in 1979 and opted to not wear a helmet for the next 18 years.

MacTavish never had his contract terminated for killing a woman. He just became a free agent in prison as his contract expired, and then signed with Edmonton when he was released

When they made helmets mandatory, it was only required for new players. MacTavish was just the last guy to play without.

I absolutely hate that he's called a convicted rapist for having consensual sex with a 15-year old when he was 17.
I had forgotten it was a statutory rape case. I'm not an expert on Tibbetts, but can make a few points: a minor cannot legally give consent. By definition, sex with a minor is lacking consent. I have not seen specifics of the incident, but I see the sentencing judge termed the incident (occurring at a boozy overnight party in Boston) as "brutal". I know Tibbetts says it was 'consensual', but we shouldn't take his word for it. For all we know, a statutory rape charge may have been a prosecutorial decision because its a slam dunk case to make. No testimony needed, just check the ID (something Billy should've done).

Now- if a 15 and 17 year old are in a relationship or the 15 year old's state of mind wasn't in question and the minor publicly maintained their intent to have sex with Tibbetts, then I am inclined to agree with you.

Yeah, I understand the logic behind it. I'm not saying there wasn't anything wrong with the incident either. But I think it's ridiculous we have classifications for 82 different shades of blue but someone who has consensual sex with a 15 year old when they're 17 has the same classification as someone who forces themselves on an unwilling partner.

Reading some old articles about this, I've stumbled on this story we were in on signing Peca as 3C in 2007. Imagine him on a line with Avery and Callahan.

It really depends on what state it happens in. Which, yeah…is arbitrary. A lot of states need to reform their criminal codes. It has to get through state legislatures and no elected official wants someone to run against them saying 'so-and-so voted to make it easier for minors to get taken advantage of'.

West Hartford is gorgeous. My Sister and her family live in West Hartford while i have a few clients in the West Hartford Medical building. West Hartford downtown is basically two short roads though and the few bars are packed only b/c the City of Hartford is dead. Hardly “grossly misinformed” and i can see how a 19-21 yr old from another country could struggle. I think he could have handled this better but not sure what’s going on in his head. All we know is he was playing video games, depressed and left.

Ok, I believe what you believe now. Hartford is the crusher of souls for young men.

A couple interesting articles I found on the matter:

https://nypost.com/2002/12/22/on-th...sex-offender-is-worthy-of-broadway-spotlight/

How should rapist, now a Penguin, pay for his crimes?

theres another interesting one on reddit, but every time I try to post a link it posts the whole article. Says Tibbetts accidentally hit Mario Lemieux with a BK Whopper, was beat up by Oliwa twice in one game, and was cut from the 'pack after getting into a mid-game screaming match with the coach (Gernander?).

That link says the girl was unconscious. I'd never heard that. I withdraw my previous objections.

Gernander would have been playing with the Pack at that time. Ryan McGill would probably have been their coach.

There's probably no chance he's available, but, I'd love to see if STL would be willing to listen on offers for Vince Dunn. They're looking at an interesting cap situation depending on what they want to do with Pietrangelo.

I am not super enamored with Dunn, but the Blues are in a sticky situation and may end up having to expose him in the expansion draft depending on how Pietro goes. I wonder if they won't shop Parayko and would re-sign Pietrangelo if so. They're married to Faulk now and none of them were great at LD this season.

Does Morgan Barron finish his college career or signs this season?
Up in the air. I think he was all but certain to sign before the COVID-19 thing. Then the season was cancelled. Cornell was a favorite to win it all. So, lots of guys in his position are gonna want to go back. BUT--now there's a legitimate question, particularly in the northeast, if sports will be played this fall. He may not have a choice, at least in the sense that it's totally conceivable fall sports like hockey are cancelled.
