Assuming they come back tomorrow and stay in the line-up, they will have both played 70+ games this year.

No injuries to Stützle or Batherson. A handful of games missed between Brady, Sanderson and Chabot.

This is as good as it gets from an injury perspective. Obviously some bad luck with the timing right now but that’s why I said they can’t be losing all 5 games. If they’d gotten 4 pts in this stretch instead of 0 they’d be in a playoff spot still.

I get your larger point about injury history though, and I don’t disagree. But most teams have guys that are injury prone.
Zub, Jensen and Ullmark also missed time, which are important players.

I'd trade pinto for Peterka ngl.

He's the better player, but the value could be similar due to Pinto being the big two-way center that so many teams are looking for.

We'd definitely need to be certain Greig is sticking at center and we either are keeping Norris or have a replacement lined up before pulling the trigger.

Zub, Jensen and Ullmark also missed time, which are important players.
The only key players that have missed significant time this year are Zub and Ullmark.

And we overcame Ullmark’s injury because we had depth in goal, which was the larger point. I really don’t see a season going much better than this one from an injury perspective if we measure the circumstances as of today.

Obviously if our three guys return in April I’ll take it back. But I don’t think injuries are why we are where we are (which is not a bad place anyway).

I agree, but this is what so many of us have feared - Norris and Pinto unable to stay healthy. Might not be their shoulders this go around, but wouldn't that be worse than if it was?

Brady I'm not overly concerned about, though if he doesn't play Saturday that will likely change.
Pinto missed serious time over an injury once. So I’m not ready to call
Him injury prone

Reading between the lines, this means Tanev wouldn’t waive to come here but would gladly sign here in the offseason if we overpay.

Don’t have much interest in him personally
This tEdam needs creativity and speed and shooting.

Not more bottom 6 players

I mean if you make the argument lf overcoming ones injury then you can make the same with Columbus and them overcoming injuries only with very unsustainable pdo.

He made sense as a way of attracting his brother as a UFA, but we're a team that's bottom 10 in the league in goals scored and expected goals scored.

Don't need another grinder, need some freaking talent.

I like Pinto .. Pinto has not reached his potential and has some versatility in both offensive roles and defensive roles...

I like having that 3 headed monster down the middle

So lets say not now anyway I want to see how that unfolds and how Greig develops.

We do need a scoring winger I wouldn't mind Quinn too and he might be cheaper. but not yet as accomplished

Buffalo can use some more jam up front imo.

Batherson for Peterka sounds pretty good value wise, but we would still be searching for another top 6 forward anyways.

I'm going to get shredded, but I'd pay a relatively absurd amount to get Brayden Schenn in Ottawa if they took back bodies to make the cap work (and it sounds like a relatively absurd price is what it would take Armstrong to even consider it)

To St-Louis:

David Perron (might be one of the only places he would waive for, team gets to "do right by the player")
Mike Amadio (Having Perron + Amadio in the deal makes the deal cap neutral and SS gets a re-do)
OTT 1st 2025
OTT 2nd 2025
OTT 3rd 2025
Any combination of prospects not named Carter Yakemchuk

To Ottawa:

Brayden Schenn
Nathan Walker (cheap warm body who can play a shift if needed)

Blues only have 3 picks in the upcoming draft, maybe 3 valuable draft picks gets them to bite on trading their captain and heart and soul. Go trade JBD++ for Luke Schenn to appease Brayden/get him to waive his NMC to come here.

B.Schenn - Stutzle - Giroux
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Highmore
Reinhardt - Gregor - Gaudette
Jenik/Walker

Sanderson - Zub
Chabot - Jensen
Kleven - L.Schenn
Hamonic/Mantipalo

Ullmark
Forsberg
Merilainen

He’s worth a lot but I don’t see this as being a roster worthy of making an all-in move for

I don't think Buffalo is interested in more picks, but I would trade a (lottery protected) 1st for Peterka.

There is a risk since it forces us to give up the 2026 1st, but we need to get better quick.

One of my made up sources claimed to find a Gabriels napkin with Soucy, Hoglander, and VAN 2nd for Norris and FLA 3rd written on it.

It did have grease on it, so it could just be a leftover from when Dorion was the GM.

Haven't checked in with Ridley Greig on Twitter to confirm.

Schenn probably not waiving to come here

I think the flipside to this argument is that if they don't make an all-in move it could lead to a very different looking roster in 1.5 years. There's absolutely some fan emotion playing into the all-in approach but this teams core (outside of Stu and Sandy) aren't kids anymore and they need to sh*t or get off the pot as far as making the playoffs is concerned. Schenn's contract also lines up perfectly with the core, ending at the same time as Brady, Stu, Norris, Greig, Sandy, Chabot, Ullmark. It's a real sign to this group that management are serious about building a winning team with around this core in the next 3.5 years. This group (probably) isn't going to win the Stanley Cup on their first try making the playoffs, they need to make it this year to get these guys the experience they need to make us a contender from 2025-26 to 2027-28.

We can't give up a first and set ourselves up to be Duchene'd again. Especially if there is any remote chance Tkachuk will be moved this summer, the last thing the fanbase needs is the negative dynamic of watching our unprotected pick all season.

Peterka will also cost 4M-5M on a bridge deal, or more long term. With our current cap situation, that makes it difficult to justify because it means we have to lose a piece somewhere else. It's two steps back.

Batherson for Peterka, or Batherson for assets and those assets for Peterka might make sense. I just can't see us giving up our first.
