Lindgren for a 3rd
Smith for a 2nd
Kakko, 2nd for Byram

I don’t see Kreider dealt in season. See if the team builds momentum, consider another bargain bin add at the deadline if they are firmly in the playoff mix.

Panarin Trocheck Lafreniere
Kreider Zibanejad Berard/Othmann
Cuylle Chytil Berard/Othmann
Edstrom Carrick Vesey

Byram Fox
Miller Schneider
Jones Mancini/Vaakanien

Look to deal Kreider next year. One of Berard/Othmann stays, the other is packaged. Perreault makes the jump next year, Mancini gets some seasoning and grabs a full time spot next year

Obv Drury & "you types" learned nothing from the Hank yrs

Paying any goalie 1/8th or the cap is flat out stupid & means we will NOT be able to put a team in front of him.

Even if/when the cap goes up, it'll STILL be wayyyyyyyy to much.

We need a team, not an overpaid goalie (and by overpaid I only mean because that's too much for any goalie, not because I don't like him or feel he's not damn good)
I guess in this logic just as stupid as paying the best 1C $13m-$14m since you won’t be able to put together a team behind him?

I'll bet the rite of passage quip doesn't sit well with Drury.

The best center in the league impacts the game in a much bigger way than the best goalie. The best center in the league is also much, much better than the median center in the league.

The difference between Nathan MacKinnon and Evan Rodrigues (I tried to pick an average middle 6 C) is much bigger than the difference between Igor and Binnington.

Igor is also not clearly, year in and year out, the best goalie. We assume this but just look at his stats this year.

Why would you compare MacKinnin to a middle 6 C? You’re not comparing Shesterkin to a backup goalie? Compare him to the 15th best 1C.

And I’m not sure this is all relevant anyway.

If the rumors about JT Miller leaving Vancouver due to personality issues with his teammates are true, I expect Drury will continue to try to add him.
Canucks asked about Kreider & Trouba according to Vancouver radio. I bet there’s a trade to be made there.
I'd stay away for Miller unless it's like for something like Chytil/Smith/1st.

The guy's clearly a loose cannon and volatile; D'Angelo without the political stuff.

There’s also the massive difference in a skater playing ~90ish% of the season assuming they miss 5-7 games for whatever reason. Starting goalies typically max out now at around 60 games.

They need a LD for not only this year but next aswell so if they can flip Lindgren for picks then use those assets for a replacement I can see that happening. So even. 3 way deal . Rangers would have to add a player I’m guessing

Ferraro from SJ?
Matheson from Montreal?
Olesiak from Seattle ?
Olesiak is what McLIrath was supposed to be.

Imagine if it's him and Gourde to NY for Kaako a B-Tier prospect.

But Drury will be happy he has the King of One-timers on his roster.
Kings of the one timer

I'm not really upset with the Igor deal. What other options did they have? Garand is still an unknown at the NHL level. He needs to be the backup or be traded. He's going to be a very cost effective backup for the next 4-5 years. Talbot 2.0.

Rangers don't really have goalie options outside of that unless Olas/Boyko take a huge step.

We can always imagine.
What's it gonna cost? Gourde is having a crap year and now injured. Not a first.

Obtuse.

The best center affects the game much more than a goalie does. He makes those around him better. Much more important.
Id argue otherwise. A goalie impacts a ton.

with a good goalie you also can play defense differently. You don’t have to block every shot so it allows you to play things more aggressively.

It's all about drafting and finding value. Not everyone is going to hit on every 5th round prospect that becomes a star, yet if you can find enough players in the later rounds and get one surprise, the depth and overall team become better.

Edstrom as an example is stepping it up the last five games. He's not going to score 12 goals this year, he may get there and become a PKer in the next 1-3 years.

Rangers need to draft more centers which is the oldest story on this board. Laba may or may not become like a Gourde/Cirelli. Roobereck like a Boyle.

Then they can work on the first line center via trade or UFA if Mika continues to decline and Fil can't stay healthy.

For a team to win the cup, they need a good goalie (or obv a hot one) & a great team in front of him.

Usually built around a center.

Scrubs aren't what I'm talking about.

I'd rather have McDavid or MacKinnon than Shesty or Hellebuyck

So, who here posted that the Rangers and Igor agreed on the contract they were just waiting? I remember reading it here. I guess it was agreed upon when Weekes first tweeted about it? Which was awhile ago.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but Reilly Smith has not been the issue for this team. He's played poorly on a terrible line for a good part of the season, but I think he's overall been a positive compared to many of his team mates. I don't think getting a quick return for him is worth while, unless he's packaged with another roster player for an obvious upgrade.

On the other hand, goalies play an entire game and aren't used in shifts like skaters are. A starting goalie's icetime per game will be 3x any 1C. Theoretically, they play more than anyone else on the team.

If they save 1 goal above expected every game, it's equivalent to a 90 point season of a forward.

They are also the most important penalty killers on the team.

They are also involved in every shootout round where a 1C is only involved in a single shootout attempt.

I'd argue they could be just as gamebreaking and impactful as a 1C if hot.

Sometimes more so.
