Last seasons all-star game, Team Hughes picked JT Miller last even though they already had 4 Canucks on the roster.
Thought at the time it seemed odd and disrespectful.
Then the news came trickling out last week about team issues and then tonight after the game on ESPN, Kevin Buccigross just Confirmed that JT Miller had left the Canucks due to personality issues with teammates.
You got that clip? Seems weird the JTM would be out this long without 1000 solid trade rumors. The ones that have come out all seem uncredible. The GM keeps saying things like we stand by JT whatever that is supposed to me. Thoughts and prayers adjacent.

They need a LD for not only this year but next aswell so if they can flip Lindgren for picks then use those assets for a replacement I can see that happening. So even. 3 way deal . Rangers would have to add a player I’m guessing

Ferraro from SJ?
Matheson from Montreal?
Olesiak from Seattle ?

Not available. NHL on ESPN rarely drops post game comments.
Best bet is if you have ESPN+ is to go to the archived games and see if it is at the end.

Emily Kaplan reported in the first period the Rangers are looking to subtract players. She mentioned Kreider, Lindgren, Smith and Kakko. She claims Kreider is complicated because of the limited NTC and the cap hit is hard to be traded during the season.

Dallas has the Seguin money but Dallas doesn't want to trade any of their top kids namely Stankoven, Bourque and the Swiss D. I saw Jeff Marek's show yesterday and he said the Stars will be chasing every forward available like Kreider, Brock Nelson, etc. The Stars don't have much to trade on their roster. Dallas acquired Tanev last season for a 2nd round pick and another small asset.

Dallas-Vegas last night. Kreider would fit on Vegas. Could that be a hockey trade? Vegas is better than Dallas which is why the Stars want to add.

Lindgren and Smith can bring in 2nd round picks. Smith cost the Rangers a 2nd and 5th. The Rangers can retain 50% after Pittsburgh retained 25%. $1,687,500 player. Can the Rangers get a first round pick plus a few other picks packing Lindgren and Smith together? Retain 50% of Lindgren's $4.5M. $$2.25M. $3,937,500 for both players. It's really less in actual cap space closer to the deadline. The Capitals packaged Orlov and Hathaway to Boston for a 1st round pick and swapped that pick to Toronto for Sandin. Smith has a limited NTC to 8 teams. The Rangers use the pick to select a player or flip for a young NHL player. A top 4/5 D and a top 6/9 Cup winning forward. Maybe the Rangers take back a lesser expiring contract to make the money work if necessary. The Trouba trade allows them to use the space in many ways and still have money to add players. The two retentions will be off the books after this season.

The Rangers play the Finish kid acquired from Anaheim in place of Lindgren and Othmann who should be back soon or Berard replaces Smith.

Kakko? A young top 4 D would be nice. Upgrade at forward.

First step was removing Trouba from the team and his cap hit off the books
Second step was re-signing Igor

More steps are coming

There are more steps sure but Kakko seems like one of the assets standing to benefit the most from trades above him at forward, and Othmann has not yet shown to be an NHL player.

If BOTH Kreider and Smith were traded without NHL forwards in return, Kakko pretty much would and should stay. I think It's Kreider-Smith or Kakko-Smith at the most.

Agreed that is the Rangers biggest issue both for this year and in the future. Would aim potentially higher than that and try to solve long-term. Ideally this player would replace Lindgren in the top-4 and pair with either Fox or Schneider. Assuming we could trade Lindgren for like a second, what could a combo of Othmann, this years first, and that second get? Maybe throw in Jones or Vaak if necessary

Miller-Fox
???-Schneider
Jones/Vaak-Mancini/Ruhwedel

If the rumors about JT Miller leaving Vancouver due to personality issues with his teammates are true, I expect Drury will continue to try to add him.
Canucks asked about Kreider & Trouba according to Vancouver radio. I bet there’s a trade to be made there.

he's been in a funk for too long for the league generally to have confidence in him

If Trouba can be traded with that contract, with nothing retained, for an NHL defenseman and a 4th rounder then Mika can be traded for significantly more than that.

People forget he's notoriously bad at the start of every season. He'll find his groove.

And, even if he doesn't, he's still on pace for another 70 point season, PK and PP specialist, and a responsible center.

He'd bring back a nice package. Believe me.

As much as Im souring on Mika and to a lesser extent Kreider, I'm convinced that if our defense was fixed those 2 could find their groove again. I'd be eager to move Lindgren and potentially Miller as well. Kakko I would not trade.

This is the take closest to my own. If we want to move Smith, Kakko/Kreider, so be it. But I think getting the puck out of the back end is the aspect of this team most fundamentally broken for the playoffs.

If we can get even like another Gustafsson type on the back end to replace Lindgren (Heck, maybe two of those types) , I actually think that does a lot to help the team.

K'Andre Miller could be the centerpiece in a trade for a Tkachuk or a JT Miller. Then you find a puck moving replacement.

The team looks so much better on the back-end if you put a couple Walman/Matheson/Pettersson types there instead of undersized guys like Lindgren and Jones who have trouble defending.

And I agree on MIller+Kakko, they have value to other teams who may have more of the capacity to play them where they need to be play, and could be packaged together for a real difference maker.

I look at Boston. They have very little up front in terms of forwards with skill. They just paid Big Z and E. Lindholm somewhat foolishly. I highly doubt they'd be interested in moving McAvoy, but Hampus Lindholm has 4 years left at 6.5. Currently out week to week but I feel like he'd be the perfect partner for Fox. BIg body and can move the puck. I wanted him a few years back. Kreider, Miller, Kakko are all guys I think Bruins could have interest in. They love CK up there, and they could look to get younger throughout their lineup.

Kreider and Dallas make the most sense and Smith makes sense in Nashville, if they shake it up and Vegas. Just take the next step. Trade Linegren

Lindgren/Reilly package deal to Washington.

Chris Kreider + to Boston for Hampus Lindholm

K'Andre Miller and Brennan Othman to Vancouver for JT MIller

Lindgren and Kakko to San Jose for Jake Walman and a pick

Panarin-Trocheck-Lafreniere
Miller-Chytil-Cuylle
Smith-Zibanejad-Berard
Edstrom-Carrick-Rempe
Brodz/Vesey

Lindholm-Fox
Jones-Schneider
Walman-Mancini
Vaakanainanen

Igor
Quick

Forward group still very solid as JT replaces Kreider's production, but with a much more formidable D and hopefully now a relaxed and focused Igor. I predict these are the types of moves Drury is going to continue to make.

I don't get how people can complain when Bob & Vasi were already being paid as much down in Florida for the past half-decade.

$11.5M for Shestyorkin is the unfortunate reality of New York pricing. Would I love him at Oettinger money? Yes but, this isn't Dallas and this isn't Winnipeg and this also isn't Florida.
Spot on. And what’s missing is that the salary cap will soon hit $100m while the other two comparables where paid in the $80m cap era.

Sure they need to be more invested, and this drama has affected their play... but all the caring in the world won't help a poorly constructed team, and/or a team that has too many similar player types... and one that lack true leadership and identity.

You can't ride the PP and elite goaltending forever.

he'd have to go on a tear first, so no
reward-risk does not justify 8.5 nmc
