You dont think that he would have dropped a nugget about his future if that was the case? He talked about everything else but not a single word about the management looking to move him down the line.
So now you expect Brooks to be Carnac, as well? He didn't mention any other players by name being moved down the line either besides Kreider, do you think that means NOBODY else is potentially getting shipped out?

You clearly heard what you wanted to hear, so believe what you will.

What potential trade targets would even be out there?

This is where the risk aversion of NHL GMs becomes so annoying. You very rarely see good players traded for each other, it's usually rentals or quantity for quality with rebuilding teams selling off. The rare Tkachuk/Huberdeau trade where legitimate NHL talent is going both ways is very rare.

Nashville could be motivated to make a move. Ottawa could and should be motivated but loathe to do anything with us after their owner being triggered by Larry Brooks. Buffalo should be motivated to do something as well, but it seems like nobody will actually want to trade serious talent.

I just wonder who even to think about as a target.

I would love to see people get their wish on the Rangers getting rid of Panarin and Fox. And then all you dummies asking for it will be really miserable when you see how dreadful the team is
Why are we trading Fox?

letting bread walk makes sense at least.. at his age, not investing high$$) long term to him.

Is there a trade Fox movement I missed????

Bennett was a perfect player for us and Panthers got him for nothing. Half the people on this board look at hockey reference and assume a guy sucks. I suggested Frederic last week and someone called him a 4th liner. Frederic produced at a higher clip than Kakko over the last 3 years and Kakko is untouchable (right folks?)
Another player I was largely advocating for….
The contract, age of player, and style of play was worth it NYR to take a chance and trade for him…. It wasn’t some ridiculously high asking price to see if a change of scenery would jumpstart his development….
Fla thought it would and they were right. Bennett was a good player against us in playoffs as well.

He’s trying? At what? He has been complete ass for a full month. He barely throws a hit a game. Zero emotion at all. For a team looking for a leader he hasnt shown up in the slightest.
Reading is useful my friend
I see dif from you, and main prob is Zib pulling Chris and everyone else down
but instead of acknowledging that
and focusing on dumping Zib and Lindgren, you insist on ditching Kreider

I watch the games CAREFULLY
the culprit is Zib, not Kreider

One of the most if not THE most speculated player on the roster and you dont think Brooks would have dropped a hint if there even was an inkling from the management that they were thinking about trading him? Even just to light a fire under his ass?

I watched the last few minutes of the Buff-Wing game last night and the Sabres were pitiful and just as bad in the OT and the SO.....they need help . ]They also had Reimer in the net...he is so cooked.

Honestly think the Sens/Andlauer have good reason to believe Brady wants to bolt so they are trying to put the tampering blame on the Rangers to save face...

That aside i agree. Its not usual for these big in season deals to go down but thats why Chris gets paid the big bucks, thats his f***ing job and hes gotta try to make something happen.

Kinda feel like the way this year has gone for a few teams it may be something that could happen. No one thought Trouba would be traded in season if you look back at all of the season previews. It was all about the upcoming summer but that changed very quickly. Well see sooner or later because if this shit continues somethings gotta give.

I suspect Sens will strongly consider a deal if they view it in their best interests
That can be done with us also winning, if we stop w/instant gratification win now bs.

Once and for all, drop Brady T.
Guy is 111% certain to get a nmc in July, zero chance THAT does not happen
Once it does, he may or may not want to insist on moving again
Gotham may not be close enuf from his wife who comes from Jersey

we don't need another head case w/nmc and big cap hit
LET IT GO

He is elite IQ but room for improvement elsewhere, speed declining should def sell high now while we can before he also has trade protection kick in

Here’s a question for the board?
Igor received an 85 million dollar signing bonus.
Does Shesterkin get that money on the day he signed or does he receive the bonus on July 1st, 2025?
No guessing please, just the facts.

His trade value would be through the roof if the acquiring team would only be on the hook for the remainder of this season and 7 million over the course of the following 8 years if Igor was paid the bonus the day he signed. Even though his AAV would remain at 11.5 million.

They don’t need to move Fox, they need a second top puck mover so that it’s that blue liner or fox out there for 50/60 minutes of the game

Sens want D help
do not want to give up Sanderson or Brady T

Fox, Vesey, Smith + future NYR 2nd
for
Kleven, Pinto, Grieg + future Sens 1st

Kleven is a 1st rounder already here, great size RD on elc
Pinto + Grieg are useful pivots

Sens can say they got the best piece but we got most value

gotta think the offensive numbers are severely skewed by the first 6 games where it looked like they could score 10 every night. i'd like to see what those numbers look like starting with the Florida game.

i looked at this on NST and from the Florida game through yesterday the Rangers are 17th in xGF 5v5 (1.9 per game)
from the start of the season until the that game they were 2nd, with the least games played of anyone in the top 10 (3.1 per game)

Speculated by whom? HFNYR? Other than this board & posters on twitter there's been basically zero chatter about him. For two reasons, one his NMC & more importantly, he sucks. The word is out and his value has basically tanked...scouts around the league aren't blind, they see what we see & have access to more inside info than we do.

Finally, although most would like to believe otherwise, Brooks doesn't usually spout off about rumors unless he's heard something from a source or the team directly. He's not pulling shit out of thin air. When he speculates his opinion about guys the team should target, he always makes that clear.

One thing for certain is the deal isn't effective until 7/1/25.

How that signing bonus is paid out, I can't answer with certainty, but I believe the bonus is annual & he gets paid every year on 7/1.

He said this season hinges on Mika waking up, not that the team won't look to move him in the future.

He also mentioned how sensitive & soft he is....plus he said Mika needs to get in shape, but that it's probably not feasible until next off season. That was probably the most telling comment in that segment, indicating that he didn't show up this season ready to play & the results are obvious.

This was an interesting part and apologies for leaving it out.

"And I think to the question of where his game is, I think he's going to have to make a commitment........to get bigger. I think he needs to change his offseason a bit."

It's not one giant signing bonus. He'll get a large signing bonus every July 1st for the next 8 years and $1m in salary over the course of the season.

Forget all this cap space for the deadline, we should be sellers. I'd like to see Drury identify some expiring UFAs that a team will pay a small fee to unload so they can do their deadline shopping. Nothing crazy, a mid/late round pick. We need to recoup what was traded away. I'd bet a team would be willing to pay a small price for Quick, Vesey, etc... Maybe they could be the middle man on a 3 way deal to eat some salary on a player for the rest of the season.

Drury has traded away so many picks over the years. He recouped a couple mid/late rounders. Looking forward, he has no 2nd round picks in the next 3 drafts. Shades of the dreaded years with no top picks. Going back to his first draft a few years ago, 3 of his 4 drafts he has had no 2nd round pick. (To be fair, his first year with no 2nd was from Gorton using it to ship off Staal) The year he had one 2nd rounder he traded tthe first rounder away. I highly doubt we won't recoup a 2nd within the next few drafts, otherwise that'll make it 5 years in a row with no 2nd rounders. 6 out of 7 years with no 2nd rounders would almost be impressive.

And the most notable thing, we need to take a chance on some skill with those late picks. The Gabe selection almost seemed like a miracle compared to Drury's forte. A lot of people are clapping their hands for all these run of the mill bottom line prospects, I'm not so impressed. There's a place for them, I don't mind taking them. But theres a limit. When you look at a large portion of these drafts by Drury that's an obvious target. I'll be the odd man out, I'm not particularly excited by having a million guys that could potentially play on the 4th line. I want impact players. Some of these guys are a dime a dozen. Vesey has been good for us, Carrick has been good for us... these types can be found for nothing. Impact players are the hardest to acquire, that's primarily what the draft philosophy should be.

We wonder why we're not drafting any Duclair's or Buch's anymore... its almost like you have to take a chance drafting those sorts of players... we can't draft some random 6 foot 7 guy every year and then be like Gee I wonder why we can't find any hidden diamonds...
He made trades better the team. He hadn’t given up a ton for what NYR has gotten back….
It’s hard being at the top of the standings and being competitive/for all the years he’s been at the helm so far ( playoffs, mostly beyond 1st round besides the devils debacle) and still have to fill some substantial gaping holes In the line up…
Some self inflicted, some caused by injury, etc…
I don’t think he’s drastically overpaid for anything at the TDL for what we’ve received and production we got from them on the playoff runs….
Even that Kane disaster didn’t cost much…..
Copp was sorely needed, and then he upgraded in the offseason signing Tro instead of copp. Tro has been better then most( myself included) thought with a solid structured contract.
Got a 1st for Nils.
Mancini looks like a player….
He’s drafted some talented with some late picks he had, but no one really has been lighting it up as a standout.
Perrault is a miracle that he fell and we took him.
Emery could be just the type of guy that D needs…
I mean besides devils 1st rd exit, there really wasn’t down year yet…..
Panarin/kreider/chytil/miller/kakko
Etc should all bring back multiple assets including picks back should the rangers not look like they are going to get in or go far in the postseason……
Gorton had a ton of selling ammunition when the letter went out….
And yes he drafted a lot of talented guys, but he also had a lot of established talented players he was given the green light to trade…
This season looking like it could be a sellers year for us
