So is Rantanen, who is a UFA and could conceivably be had for no assets, and people don't champion Rantanen to the point of exhaustion.
Would rather sign Rantanen for just money than pony up assets for Tkachuk.

Whoever said Tkachuk isn't coming here now because their owner has skin that's thinner than a prepubesecent teenager is bang on.

There are teams who aren't going to deal with us because we're the Rangers.

The ask on Eichel was much bigger for us.
Let them be rattled by billboards and beat writer articles.

I'll do another one. The Rangers are shifting their focus to Mikko Rantanen after Ottawa says no to trading Tkachuk.

Is Stan Kroenke going to run to Bettman now that he read this?

Small dick mentality up there in Buffalo and Ottawa.

He realized, like everyone before him did, that this group of players stops scoring if they have to play a system. They were pretty tight last night aside from Zibanejad and Miller making horrendous errors, and they generated nothing.

That's lack of talent. You need good passing and puck-carrying ability to generate offense without cheating. This team going from their own zone to the opponent's zone, without flying and causing a rush, is like watching somebody climb Everest.

Wait, so abandoning our system improved our 5v5 play? Except our no system 5v5 play has been THE big issue for years and over several coaches? The truth is it's not the "team" that cannot play offensive hockey with a system, it's the top 2 lines. It's the "core" that stink at it, so the coaches go with the easy option and FAIL, just like their predecessors have failed. Now we don't score 5v5 and we leak goals the other way. How smart is that?

He does NOTHING. At best, he might give you 20 goals and 40 points. He's had a number of years way short of that. He's tough, I guess? For the sake of being tough. He doesn't produce anything tangible with it. He can't be that hard to play against, his team doesn't do much when he's on the ice.

The biggest problem with Brady Tkachuk is most people here think he’s as good as Matt.
Negligible. First 5 years of both players....

BT GP: 359 Points: 275
MT GP 349 Points 278

BT tracking for a 90+ point season this year. If BT isnt as good as MT, he aint that far off... and is a year younger.

Very surprised its not talked about more around the beat.

I feel like he just hasn't made any of the right moves this year. He sat Smith. He needs to send larger messages by sitting some of the guys not producing and callup guys from HFD that can inject some life. Everyone busts on Rempe as a giraffe on skates, but he injects life into the building everytime he plays.
In the Buffalo game they should sit out Kreider and Zibs . Leave then home . Give Cuylle and Laf and Berard /Chytil /Edstrom extra shifts . These guys yearn for the extra minutes every game ....let them have the dance floor .

I suggested Rantanen too. They need that type of guy

Don't make me laf.

Seriously, he's butter-soft right now and has so much to go in filling the gap to his potential. He's not even Brady right now.

Style of play wise. Laf shows flashes of the physical play but he’s too aloof like the vets. That should be a huge red flag for management. Bad habits

Do they see him like that or do they have no choice but to see him like that because of his NMC?
I just do not get it. How can you watch him play and feel that way

Probably a combination of both. Heavily invested in him and desperatly want him to get back to form.

He said this season hinges on Mika waking up, not that the team won't look to move him in the future.

He also mentioned how sensitive & soft he is....plus he said Mika needs to get in shape, but that it's probably not feasible until next off season. That was probably the most telling comment in that segment, indicating that he didn't show up this season ready to play & the results are obvious.

You dont think that he would have dropped a nugget about his future if that was the case? He talked about everything else but not a single word about the management looking to move him down the line.
