Drury just delivered a huge shake up this week. Maybe he moves someone else by the deadline if the ship keeps floundering.

The team has to try to work through it. But the reality likely is they just aren't good enough.

There’s no salvaging this roster, its never been quite good enough to go to battle with the elite teams and now with the core players in decline and the failure to draft any high end skill the team is floundering. Drury needs to resume looking to trade as many of these players as he can, and Zibanejad should be put under pressure to waive his no move clause. Bench him, reduce his minutes, take him off the PP.

All of these guys should be moved by the trade deadline and then in the summer look to move Trocheck out as well. If Tkachuk is actually on the table, Lafreniere should absolutely be available in a package for him.

If anything has been proved over the last 6-8 months it’s the Rangers will leak things and not consider the consequences. Or just not care about them

So I don’t put this past Drury and the team at all quite frankly. I know people make him out to be some guy who operates in the shadows, it’s really not the case lol

The funny part is it has not been proved at all that NYR will leak things. Someone says something in the media and people say, without ANY proof, that Drury/NYR must have leaked it… then something else is talked about in the media and people cite the previous rumors, that were never proved to have been leaked, as precedent for this new rumor to definitely be a leak. It’s so ridiculous.
Want to prove me wrong? Provide proof. Even Drury’s stupid email to other GMs wasn’t a proven leak leak from NYR. Hahahahahaha.

Agreed, the expiration date was this past July. Upgrading the defense over the summer would've went a long way to fixing what was broken. All that was needed was to boot him & Lindren then replace them with actual NHL caliber players & this team might look light years better.

I'd venture to say subtracting two shitty players & replacing them with even average defensemen would've absolutely helped. Especially if they were added over the summer & had a full training camp to train with the team.

I'm not saying that fixes all the problems, but they need to start somewhere if they don't plan on tearing it down to the studs.

People are too fixated on personel, it's a culture thing. It's almost always been a culture thing here.

The problem, at least this season, has been the forwards not giving any support. Not existing in the neutral zone, backing straight into the zone when they are offering no resistence, not even being in the frame when the defensemen are trying to get the puck out of the zone.

Amazingly, trading Jacob Trouba didn't make them give basic puck support. They still embarassingly flew the zone. They're still allergic to skating in straight lines, other than 4th liners and Cuylle.

I sure am glad we gave Shesterkin $11.5M a year, when we were the only ones that could give him the 8th year, just to lose to Chicago. I hate Seravalli with the passion of a thousand suns because he's a complete asshole but he made a decent point today. If you're Drury, you tell Igor "we're not trading your rights to a team before July 1st" and let him think about how much he would get over just 7 years.

fans absolutely hated him when he was here - called him dumb, pretty boy, yadda yadda.

put him in a good system with a good coach and he'll be fine. Leave him to flounder and he looks like this - noncommittal, hesitant, and mistake prone. He's not the preternatural defender or physical presence any of us want, but y'all act like he's the reason we lose these games, or does nothing right on the ice. He might be overrated around the league, but he's underrated here. it's odd.

Let's not pretend a good system with a good coach comes near New York with a 10 ft pole.
