It's crazy they they continually hire coaches that coach a certain way.....yet expect them to change their philosophy to accommodate players???

At this point, we should start getting players that are comfortable with that philosophy as opposed to trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole and over and over again with similar coaches.

I'm not comfortable with or confident in this group regardless of the system.

Time to change it up, but the coaching staff gets more than a year and a half

I mean all you have to do is change the defense system to a zone and play the same way they play on the pk, which is awesome, and you don't need to do much at all, I can't see them trading half the team to suit a couple stubborn coaches.

Players mad about a CBA they agreed to

NTC and NMC are two separate things. This is not a new thing

Shit like this is why I never side with the players in any CBA negotiation no matter sport

Kinda shows you how weak willed this group really is that jettisoning Tuba and Goodrow completely destroyed the lockeroom. I don't believe this group is actually this bad. This isn't even speculation... this is what's been reported, this whole situation has left a bad taste in these prima donnas' mouths. They feel bad their pals are getting moved. They felt bad Tuba was being shopped in the summer. Boo hoo. The veterans disappeared. Panarin is the only vet worth a damn right now. The kids have been fine. The vets have tanked the season.

Bill Guerin is the GM for the US at this 4 Nations Tourney... he's the GM for Minnesota. He selected Kreider and Trocheck for team US. Package those 2 to Guerin in the summer for a haul. Rossi is rumored to be on the block, they have a number of blue chip prospects.

I dont think this roster needs a ton. We have good pieces in place. But it's time to transition this core.

put him in a good system with a good coach and he'll be fine. Leave him to flounder and he looks like this - noncommittal, hesitant, and mistake prone. He's not the preternatural defender or physical presence any of us want, but y'all act like he's the reason we lose these games, or does nothing right on the ice. He might be overrated around the league, but he's underrated here. it's odd.

I think he's been awful this year. But that's not much different with almost any other player on the team. Saying that, I also think he has fantastic tools if he can get it together. I don't see much of a reason to trade him at the moment. Much bigger fish to fry

Agreed, the expiration date was this past July. Upgrading the defense over the summer would've went a long way to fixing what was broken. All that was needed was to boot him & Lindren then replace them with actual NHL caliber players & this team might look light years better.

Laviolette is going to get fired and its really just not his fault. But this team is legitimately unresponsive. They have zero energy. Lifeless efforts. They need a shakeup and the coach is the one position that is low hanging fruit to change. This group is a disappointment. The leadership in that room doesn’t exist anymore.

You have to hire Joel Quenneville. We are at the last resort desperation stage.

This is why it probably needs to happen. They need a new voice in the room. Taking the attention off of them could be what helps. They are under a massive microscope

Nemec is a good starting point but I don’t think Mercer holds the kind of value other teams can send their way.

A team like Minnesota can best that easily with out even touching their top guys.
