I mean they move out Kreider and they can keep Kakko and Jones and have whatever futures they get for him. It doesn’t make sense to move Kreider in a hockey trade because you are probably just getting a worse version of Kreider

They need to not double and triple down chasing this like the NY Jets did to try and make the Rodgers thing work when it was clearly never going to work/is not working. This is also clearly not working

Oh the bolded I'm 100% in agreement with.

You just made it sound like Kreider would be just a cap dump where we wouldn't really get much in return or really care about what the return would be. If I misunderstood you then my bad.

Is it me or does it seem like the Rangers are bidding against themselves when it comes to Igor? Who else can afford that contract? I doubt he would sign with a bad team in a small market.

I’d rather just let Trouba run out the clock on his contract than take back Stamkos. Only way I’d do that is if Nashville took zibanejads contract.
Zibanejad for Skjei kind of makes sense for everybody. I saw Zibanejad for JAM on the main board. I wouldn’t touch that, but Skjei would actually help us out a lot

We tried it with a better goalie in Henrik. There's 0 margin for error when building around a high priced goalie. The only teams that have won with them are teams with no state income tax.

I have no desire to pay him and have not loved his play or his attitude very much this year. He kinda threw the team under the bus when his demands about wanting to be the highest paid player on the team. They should definitely look into a trade but any trade they make needs to have a difference making talent coming back.

I've never said he's not a good player.

It's easy to say when he's been the third best player on his team their entire window.

He might think he's the guy but I'm not betting a $14m AAV on it.
Really needs to be pointed out, that what the insiders originally said was that Rantanen (and/or his agent) think they can get up to 14M on the open market. That is most likely the case, he would be the biggest UFA since Panarin, and arguably even better than what Panarin was at the time.

Then you realize, that 14x7=98M dollars, and divide that by 8 =12.25M. He's probably asking to be around MacKinnon. Probably less than him, but in the neighbourhood.

Some will probably be signed before we reach the off season, but the goalie FA market could be interesting and potentially expensive.
Including Shesty you've also got Saros, Oettinger, Daccord, HIll and Lankinen (plus guys like Blackwood and Georgiev) maybe without a contract, and all those teams looking for a new starter.

If we don't want to give Shesty $10m+ then we really need to trade him to a team who is looking to get out in front of everyone else and would sign him before FA bidding starts

That’s more palatable I guess, I don’t think the Rangers would do it because they would have to scramble to find a center to replace Mika. Unless it was something like Skjei+Novak for Zibanejad+Trouba with the Rangers retaining on Trouba a bit to even out the cap hit.

Saros and Oettinger signed this offseason for 7.75 and 8.25 million (times 8) lol

I know half of you don’t have instagram but you all should watch this video. I think it’s what we’re all craving… and Minnesota is cruising with 14M dead cap, two goalies for under 8M and a good culture.

What a f***ing beauty.

While we are remaking the team, I wouldnt mind turning Miller and Kakko into a couple dirtbags who can play. Gotta ask what Kakko's long term role is (and if he is happy with it) and I don't want any part of paying K'Andre what he wants for his soft and lackadaisical play. Rather pay Frederic or someone like that to be a middle 6 shit stirrer. We need more guys playing that kind of game.

Yeah I mean I wouldn’t have a problem with that. Honestly Nashville is the Rangers best partner for a deal because they have the bad swappable contracts and no state income tax.

You look at all these other teams and they don’t have the contracts. Only Nashville and Seattle have the contracts to make a deal work. You kind of have to think about this like it’s an NBA style deal

There is a better chance of the United States replacing the national anthem with a song titled a salute to bernmeister.
I see your national anthem replacement

Oh, way to go Puckpedia... :help:

Ahh, turns out you have apply a bunch more filters than I did or it groups UFAs-to-be who have signed (and thus making them not UFA I would have thought) with UFAs who have not signed.

He can play a little center.

The Tkachuk Line.
Nah, place him in goal to replace Shesty.

Chicago is an easy location. Good market, they need goaltending and Igor has proven to make bad teams competitive, they have plenty of cap space, and they have some young elite talent to build around.

And they’ve got a goalie (Commesso or Gajan) that they can send back

Personally I'd like to see them move Trouba and Lindgren. I've seen Wifi and a pick for trouba at 30% retained...I like that idea. Lindgren, get what you can, you cant resign him, love the guys heart but he's broken already. Then , ditch Lavy and possibly Drury, imo Drury has an issue with communication with players since he was in Hartford. He really seems to have no idea how to motivate players or make them comfortable and I dare say even confrontational. Id like to move Zibs but it's not happening so for me i drop Berard on his line with Kreider and see if the water bug can replicate Jesper Fast.
Forward lines after everyone is healthy.

Panarin Chytil Lafreniere
Kreider Zibanejad Berard
Cuylle Trochek Kakko
Edstrom Carrick Smith

I personally don't see any way nyr trades him. If he leaves it will be like Taveras with the Islanders where the team would rather him walk for nothing and vilify himself to the fan base as opposed to bring the organization that in any way is viewed as the party that removes the player from the team through a trade. It's a marketing item that is relevant to less knowledgeable fans and saves the franchise from resentment of trading the team star.
