Drury walked into an embarrassment of riches and could have done anything with them.

Adam Fox was a 22 y/o Norris winner on an ELC.
26 y/o Shesty.
Laf and Kakko on ELCs. Chytil is 20.
KAM just had 20 points in 50 games as a rookie.
Bevy of kiddos under 25 who haven't busted yet (Howden, Kravtsov, ADA, Schneider)
Panarin
Mika's not dead yet.
Buchnevich still exists.
Seriously. I can’t believe that’s a post you get clowned for on here. Mika at 5.5M could’ve been moved for anything. Fox/Panarin/Igor all superstar players. Buchnevich great playdriving top line winger willing to sign for jack shit. Back to back lottos on ELCs. Just an amazing situation to inherit with basically Trouba as the only bad thing.

Also what is with people thinking Zito just sat on his ass in Florida and ate chips off his chest? Dude made like 4 amazing window altering moves immediately

I personally don't see any way nyr trades him. If he leaves it will be like Taveras with the Islanders where the team would rather him walk for nothing and vilify himself to the fan base as opposed to bring the organization that in any way is viewed as the party that removes the player from the team through a trade. It's a marketing item that is relevant to less knowledgeable fans and saves the franchise from resentment of trading the team star.
They won’t but they should

Do we believe that as GM, Zito signed Carter Verhaeghe, one of the best unestablished UFA pick ups ever? Lomberg, Mikkola, OEL, Kulikov, Stenlund, Rodriguez? Traded for Montour, Bennett, Reinhart, Tkachuk, Lorentz, Okposo, Tarasenko. His fingers are all over their two conference final and cup winning teams and I don't think he got fleeced on any of those deals.

Drury has the distinct honor of trading Buch for Sammy Blais only to trade him back to STL for lol, Tarasenko and Mikkola who Zito would later acquire for his cup team. That's ironic.

I think you misunderstood me.

Anyone who thinks Zito sat on his ass while inheriting a contender is an idiot. I've been very complimentary about how aggressive he was with re-tooling his team including moving some big and very popular pieces for Tkachuk which was a massive deal. In the middle of his tenure he had to fire his decorated HC for being a dickhead and then made the tough decision to move on from his replacement who really didn't do anything to lose his job other than give him a gut feeling that he could do better (he was right.)

He didn't walk into a barren wasteland of a situation but f*** if he didn't take a pretty good situation and make it much better. He did the shit that Drury didn't/hasn't have the balls to do as evidenced by Ryan Lindgren going out there and being f***ing horrendous while either dragging Fox down or being on ice for sub 40% of the expected goal share away from Fox.

And as an aside, for the part above, he got A LOT of shit for that as FLA struggled through their 1st reg season under Maurice. Could you imagine the posts/comments here, early April '23, if that had been us?

I know half of you don’t have instagram but you all should watch this video. I think it’s what we’re all craving… and Minnesota is cruising with 14M dead cap, two goalies for under 8M and a good culture.

What a f***ing beauty.

I wish the Rangers had personality like that 🥵 it’s sad that they are like spoiled robots. Dolan and Drury need to go before Rangers improve.

I mentioned Zito doing a terrific job in Florida and Drury doing nothing here a year ago. Maybe more than a year. They said I was stupid. His rental trades for Chiarot snd Giroux backfired. Everything else has been on point.

Zito acquired players struggling elsewhere or the team didn't want to pay them. Bennett was on the outs in Calgsry. 2nd round pick and Heineman who is actually a decent player for the Habs. Montreal acquired him from Calgary in the Toffoli trade.

Montour was acquired by Buffalo from Anaheim for a 1st round pick in 2019 and things didn't work out there. Buffalo didn't like the arboretum case so they traded him to Florida for less. 3rd round pick in 2021. Drury traded a 3rd in 23 to rent Justin Braun. Montour was there for 3 plus seasons.

Zito moved out Huberdeau and Weegar instead of paying them or allowing them to leave as free agents.

Drury has traded every draft pick with nothing to show for it. The Rangers didn't sign Copp after paying a big rental price. Florida traded a 1st round pick and Devon Levi to Buffalo for Reinhart. They signed him to a three year contract and then a long term contract.

Some will probably be signed before we reach the off season, but the goalie FA market could be interesting and potentially expensive.
Including Shesty you've also got Saros, Oettinger, Daccord, HIll and Lankinen (plus guys like Blackwood and Georgiev) maybe without a contract, and all those teams looking for a new starter.

If we don't want to give Shesty $10m+ then we really need to trade him to a team who is looking to get out in front of everyone else and would sign him before FA bidding starts
Oettinger signed. 8 mil.

I've always defended Drury but the track record is what it is. Complain about his rental trades all you want but he wouldnt pony up for Eichel when he couldve had him, now Eichel has a Cup. He wouldnt even try on Tkachuk, now he has a Cup as well. Now Drury is left holding the bag on guys like Kakko and Chytil and Miller who are all good not great players, and the team is really not very close to winning a Cup.

Now he's got a chance to remake the roster, in a league full of teams also needing to remake their rosters, but all we get is leaks about how hard it is. Its kind of embarrassing for me as a fan tbh. Not to mention Trouba and the Garden of Dreams foundation are holding the entire locker room hostage.

The team can afford another superstar contract if they just don't re-sign Igor. Time for Drury to nut up and make a bold trade instead of crying to the media like his soft players.

Not sure if this was posted...hope the debbies aren't in on this

The rangers should trade the farm for Tkachuk before the Devils do this summer when he has an NMC and requests a trade to his uncle's team.

Miller, Kakko, Othmann, Lindgren+picks for Tkachuk. Id involve Igor if Ottawa is interested.

This is absolutely insane. Essentially 4 NHL bodies for 1, all young for the most part. You even want to get Igor into the mix of this package. Are we acquiring McDavid??

This team’s struggles have sent people to world’s they have never been before.

Ok we can continue to be a mediocre team waiting for Kakko and Miller to produce consistently and not play like whimps. Tkachuk would provide more value to the Rangers than all 4 guys combined for the life of his remaining contract.

Team's that win Cups make deals like this. Not going diamond hands on guys who don't even want to be here.

"Look guys, Minnesota players are so happy and care free and they have all this cap space! Rangers should do what they do!!"

When was the last time the Wilds were in the ECF or even f***ing relevant?
Also, Minnesota is not New York

If i had to guess some names that would be used to get Tkachuk, it would be Igor, Kakko, Chytil, Miller, Lindgren and Othmann.

Hell, I'll do that whole package Bern style for Tkachuk, Chabot, and Ullmark.

People really don't understand how good Brady Tkachuk is. Point per game player with the analytics to back it up who has the exact personality type and play style the Rangers need. I'd trade a similar package for Rantanen provided we sign him.

I’m excited for this Igor contract to be done so that people can stop talking about trading him

As if that there is any chance that’s happening
