So after 2 periods it didn't work so it's over? We were winning the entire game.

Is there no patience with Quinn? Did Kakko have to score a goal on his first shift with that line?

Devils stuck with him Hughes in that position to succeed, didn't work the first handful of games but now he looks comfortable out there.
But that is the simple way of looking at it.

The game had a lot of special teams time involved. We took penalties. That throws things off. Then Kakko took that hard hit in the 3rd from Miller and it looked like he missed a couple shifts after that.

Either way Quinn is not going to force feed him minutes

Broke a five game losing streak, won 6-2, played our most complete game of the season, Trouba, Buchnevich, Hajek, Fox, etc... played the best games of the season, Kakko saw his firsts shifts on the first line, Lundqvist looked good, and on and on and we're dissecting Kakko's ice time vs. Hughes? Why?
Because I hate myself and needed to distract myself from work.

Because it's a message board where people discuss things?

Exactly...just hope it's a sign of turning the corner.

Great Strome playing great hockey and he comes down with the flu. And I guess kakko is gonna get bottom 6 mates now and basically no pp time

So apparently after our best complete game performance Quinn decided to mess with Howdens line after he and Lemieux just played their best game taking Fast off it.

buries Kakko after getting 10 whole mins in ONE game as a top line player

and took tony D off pp 2 where he’s been great.

only idiots mess with a winning lineup just keeps blenderizing the lineup win or loss

They had free flu shots at my job. Players need a better union.

I figured Kakko would get sheltered against the bruins. Maybe he'll get some offensive zone starts on the first line.

Because we should’ve taken Hughes... our scouting blows!

Strome is sick and they've still only played 8 games. Not even the 10 game mark.

If KK is still sheltered by Game 30 THEN we have the right to complain.

“Oh, wow, I really like these—wait, is that a 14?”

I like the 3rd line. Not a fan of taking Trouba off the PP1. Doesn’t he lead the team in shots? And we’re replacing him with DeAngelo’s muffin?
I actually support that move. I've liked Trouba a lot at ES, but he shoots absolutely way too much from the point on the powerplay for him to be a good PPQB since they're mostly low-percentage shots. I know this seems a bit hypocritical since Tony has an iCF/60 of almost 30 right now on the powerplay  , but he also has a higher ixGF than Trouba because he aggressively rotates through the zone. Besides, we've seen Tony be a really good facilitator on the powerplay in the past, and I think having him move the puck quickly between Mika and Panarin is going to open up a crazy amount of room for Buch and Kreider down low.

Also, since it'll inevitably happen with Fast getting bumped up, here are the stats for Kreider-Zibanejad-Fast as a line since 2017:
CF%rel: 9.06
FF%rel: 13.57
GF%rel: 9.86
xGF%rel: 13.35
SCF%rel: 16.51
HDCF%rel: 14.38

They're an incredibly effective line, and them being together helps balance out the 2nd and 3rd lines. I was happy to see Kakko get the nod on line 1, but even Kakko himself admitted he wasn't good enough and clearly understood why Quinn put him down to L3 for tomorrow.
